It is with a heavy heart we share the passing of Art "Pap" Davis. He was fundamental in the growth of Davis and Commonwealth Disposal.?His bellowing laugh could be heard from the conference room to the shop. He will be greatly missed by his immediate and Davis families. __________________________________________________________________________________ Arthur W. Davis, 90, formerly of Shermans Dale and Harrisburg, PA, peacefully passed away in Hilton Head, SC, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with his son by his side. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on February 17, 1934, to the late Elmer and Esther Davis. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sally, their daughter Susan, and five of his brothers and sisters. Art lived and loved Penbrook, PA, attended John Harris High School, was a proud Marine veteran, and a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Penbrook. In work life, Art was co-owner of Elmer S. Davis & Son, which evolved to become Davis Turf Inc. He was involved with Davis Landscape LTD where he served many roles, telling everyone "I went from CEO to parts runner". He thoroughly enjoyed any job, especially the ones involving the use of lawn care equipment. If helping start three landscape businesses wasn't enough, Art was the proud founder and operator of Commonwealth Disposal Inc. before retiring. We cannot confirm his retirement though, as he continued to fill his days with checking up on work and people – whether it was needed or not. He is survived by his son, Scot (Michele); four grandchildren Allyson, Mitchell (Chelsea), Nicole, and Bradley (Leah); and seven great-grandchildren Reagan, Carsen, Vienna, Connor, Boden, Savannah, and Jackson. Additionally, he is survived by one loving sister, Lois Hippensteel. Burial will be private. A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, January 24th from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Hershey Country Club, 1000 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crescent Hospice, 10 Buckingham Plantation Dr., Bluffton, SC 29910, or Alzeimer's Association 9378, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
