Amanda Jerome presented at the College Counselor Information Exchange on Friday, Sept. 6th at the University of Louisville. CCIE is hosted by the Kentucky Association of College Admissions Counselors and is an event geared towards sharing best practices through the state on helping students prepare for life after high school. Amanda presented on helping students find their best fit when applying to colleges during their senior year. CCR coaches, Kelly Spaw and Matt Brannon , pictured here, attended the conference as well.?

Kristin Atwell has been announced as the new Principal at Deer Park Elementary School! Kristin said the following about her role as the new instructional leader at DPES, “Deer Park is a special place for students to learn and for staff to teach. Our school feels and operates much like a family and is a place where children and adults alike feel supported and inspired.” Atwell will begin her role on July 1.

We are excited to welcome Jason Smith to DCPS as our new District Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator! Smith currently serves as the Owensboro Middle School band director, a role he has held since 2016. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 2008 and a Master of Music Education in 2014 all from Western Kentucky University. Smith’s responsibilities in this role will include providing support for fine and performing arts throughout the district while working closely with school personnel concerning the needs of all students and staff, assisting schools and students by observing students and recommending ways to strengthen the arts programs, ensure all students have equitable access to fine and performing arts programs that reach standards, evaluate progress of district fine and performing arts programs while measuring student impact and scaling effective approaches. Smith will begin in this new position on July 1.

Matt Mason has been named the new Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for Daviess County Public Schools. This comes after Charley Broughton was recently named the new incoming Superintendent. “I am excited to combine my leadership and athletic experience to serve all stakeholders in the DCPS community,” Mason said. “I’ve worked with Charley as a teacher and a school administrator and am excited to serve on the Superintendent’s Senior Leadership Team.” Incoming Superintendent Charley Broughton said there were other strong candidates for this position, but Mason’s background and experience were an outstanding fit for this role. “Mr. Mason has demonstrated high levels of success and strong leadership throughout his professional career and will bring that same commitment to excellence to this important district role,” Broughton said.
