Yesterday, I joined #NYSAR3 and #CR0WD communities in Albany, advocating for legislation that strengthens reuse and remanufacturing economies, like: ? Senate Bill S2091 – Establishing standards for the reuse of deconstructed building materials ? Textile EPR S3217 – Creating extended producer responsibility for textiles While in town, I couldn’t pass up the chance to visit Davies Office—a company that has been pioneering reuse and remanufacturing since WWII! I originally stumbled upon Davies Office through Facebook Marketplace, but what I found was so much more than a resale shop. Their massive remanufacturing facility in Albany is a powerhouse for material reuse, where office furniture is rebuilt, refinished, and fully customized for new life instead of heading to landfill. Tucked behind their office and retail space is an impressive remanufacturing operation with custom fabrication, painting, and finishing stations, ensuring that every product meets high-performance standards while keeping materials in circulation. They are the largest office furniture remanufacturer in the U.S., proving for the last 77 years that circular business models can thrive at scale. And of course, I couldn’t leave empty-handed—I finally got my hands on a beautiful vintage 1970s leather office chair for my own office! Huge thanks to Jeff Jones and Jes Rodriguez for the impromptu tour! Truly an amazing example of local remanufacturing and reuse at scale.
