关于我们
Our mission is to conserve local lands and natural resources, connect lives to nature, and promote a conservation ethic. We advance our mission through education and through four conservation programs: land conservation and stewardship; greenways and trails; urban forestry; and wildlife habitat. Davidson Lands Conservancy (DLC) was formed in 2000 to conserve land in the Davidson area. DLC is one of 1,200 land trusts in the U.S. protecting 61 million acres for wildlife, water quality, farmland protection, recreation, and scenic enjoyment. There are 28 land trusts in North Carolina protecting 1.5 million acres. DLC is one of 18 accredited land trusts in NC, a mark of distinction showing that DLC meets the high standards for land conservation. DLC is a mission-driven, highly effective 501c3 organization - all donations are tax-deductible.

So proud of all that made this possible and congrats!
Davidson has been a Tree City USA since 2010 making this year our 15th?year as a Tree City USA! Through the efforts of Davidson Lands Conservancy, Town Staff, The Tree Council and local residents, we have been able to not only keep up with this significant certification but to grow beyond it as well. Our efforts as a community are recognized through the Tree City USA Growth Award. I look forward to the future of not only this community but for what we will build and maintain together as a healthy, diverse, and sustainable Urban Forest for future generations. P.S. Be on the lookout for our Tree City USA road sign!

We are pleased to share that in November of last year Ann and Mark Prior donated a conservation easement on their property. They have lived for many years on a very special 12-acre parcel of forest tucked into a corner of Mooresville, just north of Davidson, east of Route 115.?The Priors raised their daughter on the land and have been consistent and dedicated stewards of the woods and wildlife. Spend 10 minutes with them and their love and appreciation for the land is clear. This special conserved property abuts Pine Lake School and is partitioned by two small tributaries to the West Branch Rocky River.?Wildlife is abundant as are tell-tale signs of the Prior’s good stewardship. Ann commented, “It soothes my soul to know that even though we’re a blip, this place will remain as on oasis to showcase trees and wildlife for generations to come.”?DLC intends to work to expand the conservation area by educating nearby property owners about the benefits of conservation. #dlc #davidsonlands #conservation

At DLC we spend a lot of time focused on restoring wildlife habitats and tree canopy as well helping to remove invasive species from local protected lands #restoration #nativespecies #dlc
#Restoration is a critical step in repairing damaged ecosystems and helping nature thrive once more. This infographic highlights the importance of removing invasive alien plants, planting indigenous species like Baobab and Aloes, and practicing responsible land use to help our environment recover. Urban and peri-urban forests are vital for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience. With over 20% of the world’s avian biodiversity residing in cities, sustainable urban forestry is critical for a greener future. A single tree can: ?? Support pollinators and food systems. ?? Provide habitat for hundreds of species. ?? Capture 15,000+ liters of water annually. Learn more from UNECE Sustainable Energy's infographic below ??
