The Presidio is home to two award-winning hotels, the Inn at the Presidio and the Lodge at the Presidio. Both are located in the heart of this national park site and in Fiscal Year 2024, along with the residential and commercial leasing programs and our golf and venues businesses, the hotels contributed to an earned total revenue of more than $228 million used to fund park operations and improvements. The Presidio Trust has not received a regular federal appropriation since 2013, and this revenue helps keep the park self-sufficient. "National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst." - Wallace Stegner Did you know Fort Winfield Scott was once the headquarters for defending the Bay Area’s coastline? Named for the most prominent U.S. Army officer of the 19th century, it was built over a century ago in the western part of the Presidio and is perched high above the Golden Gate. Today, Forst Scott’s horseshoe parade lawn, surrounded by 10 identical buildings, is a hotspot for biodiversity, hosting an array of native plants, wild herons, and hawks. It’s surrounded by a historic forest of cypress and eucalyptus trees and commanding views of the Pacific Ocean, and is a place where military history and natural beauty come together. While once it was a center of defense, it’s now a place to be protected and cared for. The Presidio Trust uses the income earned through park businesses and reinvests them back into maintaining and improving areas of the park like Fort Scott. It’s done this without annual federal appropriations since 2013. Learn more about the Presidio: https://bit.ly/41xeKMN

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating Amy Meyer—the visionary conservationist who helped ensure the Presidio and Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) would remain protected and accessible to all. In the 1970s, Meyer co-founded People for a Golden Gate National Recreation Area, leading a grassroots movement to preserve open space in the Bay Area. Her efforts helped establish the GGNRA in 1972, making it one of the first urban national parks in the country. She later served as a founding board member of the Presidio Trust and continues to advocate for public lands today. Because of leaders like Meyer, millions of people enjoy these parks each year. • “Instead of sitting back and watching the Trump administration dismantle the Presidio — a historic corner of the city that functions like a small town within San Francisco for how it serves commercial, residential and recreational purposes — its leaders are making a case for the neighborhood’s continued preservation in a new report.” — Silas Valentino, SFGATE https://lnkd.in/gFsfd4wM

  • “Several months ago our hearts led us to SF and we were also particularly drawn for curious reasons to the nostalgia and historic nature of Flood building, its tall ceilings?and marbled?halls and stairs, what a special place.? The location is fantastic as well, right in the hub of transportation in downtown, BART, MUNI, Powell St. and the famed Cable Cars too.? I really love all of the staff here at the Flood building,?they are dedicated almost as part of a cause, and so friendly from the top down starting with Sheila Marko. She welcomed us and helped us get a great space. Working here on a daily basis, it’s like being at a high quality and service minded hotel that really cares, and who are super helpful and accommodating.? The security staff led by Max are great and friendly and protect the?place.? I am so pleased with the outcome of our office suite, which has been slightly modified (as per some of our specs) by the building and carpenter crew led by Andrew who is competent in his trade.? This place is the office that cares.? They all do a fantastic job and make it all work.? I have nothing but compliments to the Flood Building office and management.? We are all rooting for the success of San Francisco in?an upturning economy, and it is a pleasure doing business here.? It has enhanced our existing companies credibility and ability to find and secure business.” —?Grant Johnson, Prism Engineering Since 1904, the National Historic Landmark Flood Building has been at the center of San Francisco business community. The Presidio has a unique business model! Did you know the Presidio of San Francisco is home to more than 350 businesses? From venture capital firms, schools, restaurants, museums, retail stores, to other private organizations, these organizations employ more than 4,000 people who take buses and the Free Presidio GO shuttle to and from the park every day. These organizations fund the park through their rent, and many have funded the rehabilitation of the buildings they occupy. In Fiscal Year 2024, the residential and commercial leasing program, along with the Trust’s successful hotel and golf businesses, earned total revenue of more than $228 million used to fund park operations and improvements. The Presidio Trust has not received a regular federal appropriation since 2013. Learn more about businesses in the Presidio: https://bit.ly/3TBwa7u

  • “The Flood Building has been the administrative home of Robert Moses’ KIN since 2008, providing us with a central landmark, beautifully maintained, and secure San Francisco location for our non-profit arts organization. For over 13 years, we’ve been proud to welcome partners, collaborators, funders, and staff to our space at the Flood Building. This summer, the Flood Building generously welcomed us to work in residence in the vacated ground floor space overlooking the historic Cable Car turnaround at the base of Powell at Market Street. This residency has provided Robert Moses’ KIN with an incredible venue for increasing our visibility to the City and its visitors, who are welcome to watch for free as we rehearse and create new work for our audiences. The Flood Building has played a vital role in the 25+ year history for Robert Moses’ KIN, and is the home from which we are re-introducing the public to live art.” — Robert Moses, Artistic Director of Robert Moses’ KIN Since 1904, the National Historic Landmark Flood Building has been at the center of San Francisco business community.
