On this International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating one woman. But first, a special thank you to all of the incredible women at DataVisor who bring brilliance and dedication to the team, while make the world a little safer. Thank you to our thoughtful male colleagues who remembered International Women’s Day and are a credit to their gender. Finally, we want to shine a spotlight on our extraordinary CPO and Founder, Fang Yu, who inspires many with her genuine caring and sharp mind. When we first set to prepare today’s post, we asked the data science team which is two-thirds female, "Who are your role models?" They said, Fang Yu. And as they explained why, members from other teams chimed in – all excited to share their awe of Fang. Here are a few brief clips: “She sets a high bar and leads by example. She also takes the time to check on each of us, even on a personal level." Prachi S. “She can do everything, jumping from different meetings, and always focused. My favorite thing about her is her laugh.” Hui Gui "Fang found me at a conference and asked me to join her startup. At the time the ML models they were using were designed for social networks, but there was interest in using the models for financial fraud and crime. Building a model that had never been built before, wasn't without challenges, but stayed positive and encouraging. She sees in us our potential and helps us get there. She guided me to become a manager and build a team. It was through her mentorship that I learned to manage a team and build faith in myself. At one point, I stepped away from work, but I came back for one reason–Fang Yu. Today, I work part-time and can give my best to the team, because she gives us her best."- Yongxin Xi “Her courage is inspiring. When Fang decided to start this company, she left her secure job. One Thanksgiving weekend, she got books about starting a business, learning everything about company registration. Without fear, always with a smile. Even if there is a lot of work and deadlines, she doesn’t pass stress down to us. She always stays positive and makes sure we’re all happy.” Hongyu Cui "When I was doing my first POC, my manager happened to be away, and was to present it to our founder Fang. I was initially intimidated, but I was surprised to find her patient guidance and mentorship. Also, I particularly admire that despite her many responsibilities as CPO and founder, she maintains a deep understanding of our technical work that inspires all of us to reach her level."
