???? PATCH UPDATE FIX — When the last player was removed from the radar, the "Similar data to" section didn’t update correctly and still displayed the removed player. It now properly reflects the current selection. This applies across all radar tools (Free, Pro, App, Team). NEW (PRO) — Pro subscribers can now filter similar data profiles by Season (Current, All), League (All, Top 7, Others), and Age (U30, U25, U23, U21) on the player comparison tool. ?? NEW UPDATE — Rank players against the ?? Since the introduction of the Rank Tool, the "Top 7" version has allowed users to choose between ranking a player within the Top 7 (or Top 5) leagues or within their own league. The "Outside Top 7" version, however, was previously limited to ranking players only within their own league, without the option to compare them against all players worldwide. This was initially due to long loading times which made us decide against including the feature. After optimizing performance, we’ve significantly reduced computation time (6x faster), making it possible to add this option. → Rank (Other) tool has been renamed Rank (World) and now includes all leagues → Rank (World) tool now allows comparisons vs League or vs World → Rank (World) tool is slightly slower (0.84x) than before, but the added functionality makes up for it → Rank (Top 7) remains unchanged but is now 2x faster We'd love to hear your feedback and please let us know you run into any issues! ?? ???? NEW METRICS ???? We've just rolled out 31 new performance metrics for DataMB Pro subscribers, making it a total of 90 metrics! Some of these were previously possible through DataMB Chat queries, but they are now built into the index tool for easier access Metrics including : — xG / Shot — Possessions lost — Possessions won — Progressive actions — Misplaced passes — xG over/underperformance (differential and ratio) — xA over/underperformance (differential and ratio) — New bespoke metrics (Forward pass ratio, Chance creation ratio...) — And many more! To distinguish the new metrics, they are currently listed at the bottom of the index tool metric selector. A reordering will come soon as we’re not finished yet! We attempted to predict player market values using Machine Learning — here’s what we learned! The challenge was to build a player market valuation model focusing on basic player information: Age, Team, League, Position, Contract length, and Preferred foot. The only performance-related metrics considered were Minutes played and the DataMB Performance Index for this season. After allowing the gradient-boosting model to run and learn independently, we fine-tuned the results through recursive model enhancement. Beyond the final predictions, the process provided valuable insights into the features that most significantly influence player valuations. Feature importance refers to the degree to which different variables impact a machine learning model's prediction. The top 25 features (variables) are shown here by descending importance. Minutes Played emerged as the most impactful factor along with the Performance Index, followed by Age and Contract Length. The league in which a player competes also plays a crucial role, with the Premier League and La Liga leading the pack followed by the other top five leagues. At a similar level of importance is playing at the winger/attacking midfielder position. Unsurprisingly, the positions that follow in influence are striker, midfielder, center-back, and full-back, with goalkeepers trailing behind. While somewhat expected, one of the most interesting findings was the significant impact of a player's dominant foot on valuation. A player favoring his left-foot appears to have an influence comparable to that of major leagues and key positions. Also of note: Saudi Pro League's importance in the model ranks above established leagues like Eredivisie and Portugal's Primeira Liga, driven by the influx of high-profile, high-value transfers in recent times. The player Market Value prediction model will be added to DataMB Pro in the future once properly refined and implemented. Thank you for reading!
