New Journal Article Data-Pop Alliance's latest paper, published by?Cambridge University Press & Assessment's Data & Policy Journal, examines the urgent need for standardized, reliable data on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Sierra Leone. Using a mixed-methods research project as a case study, the authors explore key data gaps, challenges, and policy implications for SGBV eradication, response, and prevention. ?? Key Findings: ?? SGBV Drivers: Socioeconomic and cultural factors—like discriminatory attitudes and rural residence—correlate with higher prevalence. ???Help-Seeking Gaps: Women with more education may be less likely to seek help due to stigma, while asset ownership increases help-seeking. ???FGM Trends: Younger women (15-24) show a decline in FGM prevalence, but strong regional disparities remain. ?? The study also highlights data gaps, such as the need for sex-disaggregated conflict data and more granular geographic insights.
