California just unveiled its most ambitious climate roadmap yet, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2045. Here’s what stands out: 📈 Massive Job Growth: 4 million new jobs in clean energy and sustainable industries. 🏞️ Cleaner Air: Air pollution slashed by 71 percent and $200 billion in health savings. 🍃 Fossil-Free Future: A 94 percent drop in oil use and the rollout of 7 million climate-friendly homes. This isn’t just a climate plan—it’s a resilience plan. From wildfire risk reduction to investing in nature-based solutions, California is doubling down on protecting communities while creating opportunities. As Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom said, “California is drastically cutting our dependence on fossil fuels and cleaning our air – this plan is a comprehensive roadmap to achieve a pollution-free future.” We’re especially excited about: 🌳 Nature-Based Solutions: Expanding urban tree canopies and conserving 30 percent of natural lands by 2030. 🌊 Innovative Infrastructure: Deploying 6 million heat pumps and 20 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2045. 🌎 Equity in Action: Partnering with frontline communities to ensure clean energy benefits everyone. This plan is a call to action for all of us. Resilience means building a future where sustainability drives innovation and opportunity. California is proving it’s possible—let’s rise to the challenge. What part of this bold plan inspires you most? What happens to your food scraps? We sent our community manager Ari out to find out with LA Compost. Why compost your food scraps? 1. Reduces Landfill Waste: Food scraps account for a significant portion of landfill waste. Composting diverts this waste and helps reduce landfill overflow. 2. Lowers Greenhouse Gas Emissions: In landfills, food waste generates methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Composting significantly cuts down on these emissions. 3. Improves Soil Health: Compost enriches soil with organic matter, improving its structure, fertility, and ability to retain water. 4. Promotes Microbial Activity: Compost introduces beneficial microorganisms into the soil, which help break down nutrients for plants and prevent diseases. 5. Reduces the Need for Chemical Fertilizers: Using compost as a natural soil amendment eliminates or reduces the dependence on synthetic fertilizers, which can harm ecosystems. 6. Conserves Resources: Composting food scraps recycles nutrients back into the earth, making it a sustainable way to close the loop on waste. 7. Supports Local Agriculture: Healthy soil created from compost can boost yields in local farms, fostering food security and local economies. 8. Encourages Responsible Consumption: Composting makes people more mindful of how much food they waste, leading to better shopping and meal planning habits. 9. Reduces Soil Erosion: Compost helps anchor soil, preventing erosion and protecting waterways from sediment runoff. 10. Contributes to Climate Solutions: By keeping food waste out of landfills and returning carbon to the soil, composting plays a role in mitigating climate change. 11. Win Prizes: When you log your composting action in the Dashboard.Earth app, you earn tickets toward our weekly prizes. https://lnkd.in/gbVFKj32 #compost #composting #climateaction

🍱 Earlier this month, we launched Plant-Based Dining Month in Los Angeles in partnership with the Plant Based Treaty and some of the city's best plant-forward restaurants including Crossroads Kitchen The Vegan Joint and Hey, Sunshine Kitchen. 📆 Throughout November, we will be giving away gift certificates to plant-based establishments and participating restaurants will offer exclusive discounts, such as complimentary appetizers or meal percentage reductions, for those who present their Dashboard.Earth app profile in-store. 🌍 “At Dashboard.Earth, we believe that small, everyday actions — like choosing a plant-based meal — contribute to significant, collective impact," said Gayatri Roshan, founder and CEO of Dashboard.Earth. "With Plant-Based Dining Month, we’re thrilled to align with the vibrant culinary community in Los Angeles, offering Angelenos delicious ways to engage in climate action while being rewarded for their efforts.” 🍔 According to the United Nations, switching to all plant-based meals can reduce an individual’s annual emissions by up to 2.1 tons and up to 1.5 tons for vegetarians. But even reducing one’s consumption of meat a few times a week has an impact; eating less than 1.7 ounces of meat per day is equivalent to taking eight million cars off the road per year. 🍏 "Dashboard.Earth is such a great app to help users take action and to be more mindful of our daily consumption habits,” says Samantha Lau, a Los Angeles-based campaigner for the Plant Based Treaty. “A simple tool to remind ourselves that we have the power to be more sustainable, especially with what we choose to eat 3 times per day!" There's a lot at stake in this election. Here in California, there are two critical pieces of legislation we endorse and hope you'll vote for on November 5th: #prop4 and #prop5. Prop 4 proposes a $10 billion bond to boost climate resilience. This includes water conservation, wildfire prevention, and coastal protection efforts. It also directs at least 40% of funds toward underserved communities, improving water access and green spaces for all Californians. Prop 5 would lower the approval threshold for local bonds funding affordable housing and infrastructure, making it easier to finance parks, housing, and other essential services. Regardless of what happens at the polls on Election Day, you can take resilience measures at home, every day. For example, did you know November is #WorldVeganMonth? You don't have to go 100% vegan to make an impact; simply reducing your meat consumption helps, too. Plant-based meals produce 75% less heat-trapping gas, generate 75% less water pollution, and use 75% less land than meat-rich meals. And, when you compost your food scraps, you also reduce emissions by 50% compared to sending them to landfills. There are two easy food actions in the app to help you get started: •Eat a plant-based meal: It's healthier for you and the planet and for every day you eat a plant-based meal you earn 10 tickets toward our weekly prize. •Compost your food scraps: Keep food waste out of landfills by using LA's green bins or composting in your yard. So after you cook a yummy plant-based meal at home, be sure you send those scraps to the compost bin and earn 12 tickets toward the weekly prize. Download the Dashboard.Earth app to get started: https://lnkd.in/gbVFKj32 #climateaction #climateresilience #climatechange #plantbased #compost

Our founder Gayatri Roshan took part in the recent RegenAI Summit, sharing space with some incredible thought leaders. Thank you Jay Golden for the recap.
World-Class Storytelling Coach | Founder | Transformation by Communication | Author | Interactive Keynote Speaker on Storytelling
Between the tension of opposites, as Carl Jung explored, can emerge a third thing, a critical idea that could never have existed without this tension. And that's exactly what happened in this key moment at RegenAI a month ago. The moment, during an exploration into the question: "How Can AI be Regenerative?" Joy McEwen, expert beekeper, spoke of understanding the carrying capacity of the land. And inside this tension of opposites, through a panel of great hearts and intellects including to of my heroines Raiya Kind and Gayatri Roshan, magic appeared. "Did you say 'Increase our *caring* capacity?'" asked Ray Boyle. We all laughed. But something deeper was sparked in that tension of opposites, one that reaches beyond the topic of AI and regeneration and touches everything. How do we, in this world that can be so overwhelming at times, where it seems easier to close off to the flow of grief and brokenness that fills our feeds, increase our *caring capacity?* I'm reminded of a few things, though it's worth a chapter or a book. "When you're stuck, serve." From Ed Hart. From that pain can come many gifts. "When you see someone without a home, expand your heart. And ask their name." From Charles Antis. "Help a child to dream." From Julie Hudash. And then those insights from those whose names we can't remember. There was a guy who I met one day, climbing a mountain in Scotland. He was Aussie, and had moved to London. He told me the key to feeling embraced by the place, and it was a little counter intuitive. "You have to give to the place." Give to the place. Serve when you're stuck. Expand your heart when grieving. Help a child to dream. How do you increase your caring capacity? #worldmentalhealthday

"Climate chaos affects everyone, everywhere—hotter hots, drier drys, wetter wets, colder colds. Extreme weather events have become the new normal. In 2022 alone, more than three million people in the U.S. were displaced due to climate-related disasters. But just as climate chaos surrounds us, climate solutions are also within reach. Dashboard.Earth was created to tap into these existing solutions, leverage billions of dollars for meaningful action, and meet the growing public demand for change." Thank you Voyage LA Magazine for featuring our founder Gayatri Roshan and the journey that led her to launch Dashboard.Earth. #climatechange #climateaction #founderjourney https://lnkd.in/gccvWvJK
