Dawn Averitt, social justice advocate for people living with HIV and AIDS and founder of WISE and the Well Project, joined our Global Health Fellows to discuss the importance of grassroots action and speaking truth to power. She spoke about the differences between activism and advocacy, the intense stigmatization that surrounded – and continues to surround – HIV/AIDS care, and how to care for ourselves and one another in the face of systemic neglect and hostility. #learnfromthebest #dartmouth #publichealth #socialjustice
