We had a great time at NAMIWalks NH earlier this month. This is the state’s largest mental health awareness and suicide prevention event, and NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness) does a wonderful job organizing it. Every fall, thousands of Granite Staters lace up their sneakers and walk together through Concord to stomp out the stigma and unite under the rallying call: Mental Health for All! Thanks to all who joined the Dartmouth Health team, led by Carol Townsend and Heather Martin, and those who stopped by our table at the event. ??

Dartmouth Health Advanced Response Team has received a transformational monetary gift through the final will and testament of a former patient. A $6.7 million gift from the estate of Les Haynes to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics will be used to initiate a phased expansion of DHART that stands to transform its ability to reach patients in every community across northern New England, no matter how remote. “DHART has been operating for 30 years, and as many towns’ ambulances face staffing or funding shortages, and local hospitals have been forced to reduce specialty care programs, the demand for our services has only increased,” said DHART director Mike Mulhern. “With this generous gift, we will begin enacting a plan to address these challenges and significantly expand our fleet and team.” ???? https://lnkd.in/dVCzVAFE

“Dartmouth Health has been proud to support APD during its journey towards Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department accreditation, and we’re delighted that one of our members now provides even more access to age-friendly care for our older patients, when they need it, where they need it,” said Scott Rodi, MD, MPH, FACEP, chair of the department of emergency medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. “This is another example of Dartmouth Health’s commitment to geriatric care throughout our region.” Nice work, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital!
We are excited to announce that Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD), has achieved Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department (GED) accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians. This makes APD the first critical access hospital in the United States to hold this distinction. This accreditation program was created to recognize emergency departments that uphold the highest standards of care for older adults. “Healthcare is ever changing, with some of the greatest advancements ever seen in modern medicine, but we must be cognizant of not losing the 'care' in healthcare,” said Kristie R. Foster, MSN, RN, GERO-BC. “Each one of us deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion in addition to all the latest and greatest medication and treatment modalities. Our geriatric patients want to be heard about what matters most to them. Geriatric emergency care is focused on making these a priority. That is the heart of this work.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gSeCWk3N

It's an exciting time for Dartmouth Cancer Center as we expand access to oncology services in southern New Hampshire. Last week, we celebrated the expansion of our radiation and oncology unit at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics Manchester, just in time for our clinical and hematology/oncology infusion services in Manchester moving to the clinic from the Notre Dame Pavilion at CMC. "This allows all of cancer care to be under one roof: Dartmouth surgeons, gynecologic oncologists, hematologists, medical oncologists, internists and now a radiation company," Charles Thomas Jr., MD, chair of radiation oncology and applied sciences, told ManchesterInkLink.com. "All patients that have cancer will require some of those services during their journey, so this (expansion) will help minimize their fragmentation of care." https://lnkd.in/eee3WQKs ??: Andrew Sylvia via Manchester Ink Link (above)
