Imagine a world, 10 years from now, when Dartmouth graduates are a force for building inclusive, economically-secure and healthy communities with opportunities for everyone to thrive. That is the vision of The Dartmouth Center for Social Impact. The Dartmouth Center for Social Impact (DCSI) prepares students to be effective and ethical leaders for the common good. Through community-driven experiential learning, our students cultivate their skills, scholarship and passion to develop high-impact approaches to the most pressing societal problems. Our graduates go on to lead lives of purpose personally and professionally as social innovators, direct service providers, activists, philanthropists and community researchers. Prior to the inception of the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact, service work at Dartmouth had a long history through the William Jewett Tucker Foundation.

Another year, another incredible "Breaking the Mold: Careers for the Common Good" conference at Dartmouth College. This conference, which brings together alumni changemakers across the social sector, is an opportunity for the entire Dartmouth community to be inspired and re-energized by the work being done to build healthier, more equitable communities where everyone can thrive. One key learning from the evening? We all need to show up to make that vision of a better world a reality. As our director, Tracy Dustin-Eichler, put it - "We will show up for each other in solidarity and support, because the hopes and dreams we have for our community and our world are too important for us not to." Immense gratitude for our guests that showed up to inspire the next generation - Dr. David Woody III '77, Jan Malcolm '77, John Brett '00, Corey Fleming Hirokawa '95, John Smith '09 (Vermont Legal Aid, Inc.), Sam Abel-Palmer '79, Angela C. McConney, Esq. (she/her) '90, Ann Sharfstein '99, Daniel Lucey '77, Eleanor Wilson '20, Jess Blanch, AIA '05, Julie Davis '91 (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics), Laura Gillespie '86, Matt Wilson '83, and Tommy Clark '92. And for our amazing student moderators - Harsh Patel '25, Emilie Hong '25, and Sarah Williams '25. If you're a Dartmouth student or alum interest or engaged in social impact, connect with us to plug into this amazing Dartmouth social impact community. For those that missed the conference, we highly recommend you check out DCSI's podcast "All the Difference", which tells the stories of alumni changemakers. We're very excited to kick off season two of the All the Difference podcast in conversation with Zak Kaufman '08, founder and CEO of Vera Solutions. After working in monitoring and evaluation for an NGO in South Africa, Zak noticed a major opportunity to be part of the social sector's technological transformation, leading him to found Vera - a social enterprise helping organizations amplify their impact through cloud and mobile technology. In this episode, Zak walks us through his path to becoming a founder, and the opportunities he sees for how we can leverage tech for good. https://lnkd.in/eWKCc8YU

There's nothing we love more than being able to highlight Dartmouth alumni leveraging their careers for social good. Even better than that is seeing them get together to talk social impact and network with other Dartmouth changemakers. Shoutout to the NYC chapter of our Bridges to Impact program, which put on a social impact career panel with Dan Garodnick '94, Caela Murphy '15, and Alberto Robaina '86, moderated and hosted by Josie Sandler '91. Big thank you to Josie and our panelists (who all received a copy of President Sian Leah Beilock's book "Choke). For any current Dartmouth seniors headed to NYC, DC, or Boston after graduation - Applications for the Bridges to Impact program are now open (link in comments for more info). #dartmouth #socialimpactcareers
