Gefion ranks 21 on TOP500 list Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI) is proud to share that our AI supercomputer, Gefion, has secured an impressive spot as #21 on the world’s prestigious TOP500 list of the most powerful supercomputers. Launched just three weeks ago with HM King Frederik X of Denmark and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, in attendance, Gefion’s rapid rise marks a significant milestone for Denmark’s leadership in AI and supercomputing. Comprising 1,528 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, Gefion is designed for complex AI workloads, enabling groundbreaking research and innovation. ? “Gefion’s ranking as #21 on the TOP500 list is a milestone for us and for Denmark’s global standing in AI and supercomputing,” says Nadia Carlsten, PhD, CEO of DCAI. “This recognition is not only proof of the advanced technology we are able to provide our customers but also reflects our ambitions to drive leading edge scientific research and innovation that was previously not possible.”

The Danish Centre for AI Innovation A/S (DCAI) is established as public limited company by the Novo Nordisk Foundation – that will own and operate the supercomputer named Gefion, with all revenue reinvested in the initiative. EIFO (Export and Investment Fund of Denmark) is a minority owner, holding 15% of the shares. Researchers from Denmark’s public and private sectors will be able to gain access to a state-of-the-art NVIDIA AI supercomputer optimised for large-scale projects using AI, as well as world-leading NVIDIA software platforms, training, and expertise.

Ali will manage the optimisation of our Gefion AI supercomputer, advancing AI innovation across Denmark and beyond. With a strong background in high-performance computing (HPC) and large-scale infrastructure, Ali brings over 20 years of expertise to this role. ? And we did it in style thanks to the amazing AI art created especially for Gefion by the talented Cecilie Waagner Falkenstr?m It was great to have the support of the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen and EIFO’ Peder Lundquist, along with many from their teams.
