The DESIGN | AUTOMATION | MANUFACTURING | PROCESSES (DAMP) Lab is the DNA Bio-foundry of Boston University
关于我们
The DAMP lab uses its expertise to deliver consistent, reproducible, and high-throughput results that can be shared among researchers. These characteristics are vital to address synthetic biology-related research efforts where time, cost, scalability, and result quality are of utmost importance. We automate over 28 molecular biology protocols, including DNA assembly, PCR, DNA/RNA purification, cloning (transformation, plating, colony picking, DNA quantification), preparation of libraries for next-generation sequencing, gene reporter assays, flow cytometry sample preparation, among others.

Thanks to Business Insider for picking up this collaboration with Boston University's DAMP Lab! The silver lining of the Pandemic, was getting connected to the wonderful people of this lab, who now have expanded their capabilities way beyond, providing so many services to the Great Boston scientific community! [If you'd like a connection, please ask] This would not have been possible w/o my good friend and partner Erwin Seinen! From the original crew I worked with: Lynn Doucette Stamm, Shari Huval, Majda Hichy, Lena Landaverde, Catherine Klapperich, (and all the amazing folks I am not able to tag here), all the way to the folks we are collaborating with now more closely: Douglas Densmore, the amazing Courtney Tretheway, Kristen Sheldon, Molly Brennan, Chris Krenz and many others - I am truly excited about calling you all our partners! See you soon!

???????????????? ????????: ???? ?????? ?????????????? ???? el Microbial Integration Group! ?????? I’m thrilled to announce that in my third year of PhD studies, I’ll be joining the el Microbial Integration Group at Boston University, where I’ll focus on the design, development, and fabrication of microbial devices that integrate genetically engineered microorganisms with electronics, micro-nanotechnology, and microfluidics. These devices aim to revolutionize space exploration by serving as chemical sensors and actuators for food and medicine production in resource-limited environments. My research will focus on developing systems that maintain microbial stability and viability under extreme conditions—critical for long-duration space missions. A big thank you to Professor Douglas Densmore and the DAMP Lab for his expertise in microfluidics and automation, to Professor Rabia Tugce Yazicigil for her guidance in electronics, and to Professor Miguel Jimenez, my new PI, for leading the way in microbial device integration and for being an incredible mentor as I learn to be a future scientific leader. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented mentors and excited for the journey ahead! Stay tuned for updates as we push the boundaries of microbial technology and space innovation! #PhD #MicrobialDevices #Microfluidics #Electronics #Nanotechnology #SpaceExploration #Innovation #STEM #Space #technology

Check out the just-released roadmap on Engineering Biology for Space Health here : https://lnkd.in/e8fn_fCS I got to contribute to the Engineering Biology Research Consortium (EBRC) sixth technical research roadmap, which outlines goals and milestones for new tools and technologies aimed at improving human health and well-being in space while also addressing challenges here on Earth. Organized into three technical themes – Health & Medicine; Food & Nutrition; and Environmental Control & Life Support – the roadmap highlights current challenges in spaceflight and opportunities to leverage engineering biology tools and technologies to meet them. This roadmap was developed by and for the engineering biology and space health communities to help students, researchers, industry members, government funders, and policy experts better understand the potential of advancements in engineering biology research toward solving known and anticipated challenges facing human space travel travel.
