Severe flooding in September 2022 (AGRN 1034) left Bundarbo Rd in the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council area severely damaged. The force of the floodwaters caused major undermining and washout of the concrete causeway, as well as the significant loss of road gravel and rock beaching—disrupting a vital local connection. Now, thanks to funding from the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), the causeway has been fully restored, ensuring it can withstand future weather events. This project is a key example of how councils can rebuild with long-term resilience in mind, safeguarding local infrastructure for years to come. DCPM is proud to have supported this essential recovery work, helping councils navigate DRFA processes to secure funding and deliver timely restoration projects. If your council is facing similar infrastructure challenges due to flood damage, we’re here to help. Reach out to learn how we can support your disaster recovery efforts. #DisasterRecovery #InfrastructureResilience #LocalCouncil #FloodRecovery #DRFA #ProjectCompletion

Extra $100M in Disaster Relief for North Queensland – A Step Forward, But Recovery is a Long Road The federal government has announced an additional $100 million in disaster recovery funding to support farmers, small businesses, and not-for-profits across flood-affected regions in North Queensland. This funding will be crucial in helping communities rebuild, but as many local producers have pointed out, the damage is extensive, and recovery won’t be quick or easy. ?? $72M for primary producers ?? $25M for small businesses ?? Additional support for landholders, not-for-profits, and disaster-affected communities Farmers, particularly in the banana and sugar cane industries, have suffered immense losses, with some saying that loans aren’t a viable option to recover. Infrastructure damage, crop destruction, and ongoing floodwaters continue to create uncertainty. At DCPM, we understand that disaster recovery is more than just funding—it’s about navigating complex funding processes, ensuring compliance, and rebuilding communities efficiently. As local councils work through Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), it’s essential they have the right support to maximise relief efforts and secure long-term resilience. This funding is a welcome relief, but what’s next? How can councils and communities ensure they get the full benefit of these funds? Preparing for the Future: Tamworth Regional Council’s Proactive Approach ???Tamworth, NSW?– These images are from our recent engagement with?Tamworth Regional Council, where we are providing critical support in disaster preparedness. Originally engaged to guide the Council through the?Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)?process, we have since been engaged to conduct a?pre-disaster photo survey?of the region’s road network. While these roads are not currently disaster-affected, capturing their existing condition ensures the Council has the necessary evidence to support future damage claims—a vital step in securing DRFA funding when disasters strike. In addition, we are implementing?360° imagery capture?of the road network. This service functions just like Google Street View, allowing Council to: ?? ?Navigate roads interactively?using a map interface ?? View the environment from all angles—roads, buildings, and surroundings ?? ?Enhance asset management?with detailed visual records By combining?high-resolution photographic evidence?with?360° interactive imagery, Tamworth Regional Council is taking a proactive stance—ensuring they have the best possible road pre-condition data and are fully prepared for future disasters. ?Is your Council prepared??Let’s discuss how we can help you get ahead of the next disaster. #DisasterPreparedness #DRFA #AssetManagement #Tamworth #LocalGovernment #DCPM

Emergency Works: A Critical Step for Community Recovery When disaster strikes, the swift restoration of essential public assets is crucial for the immediate recovery of our communities. Emergency Works encompass urgent activities like debris removal, temporary repairs, making roads passable, and installing warning signs and barriers. These efforts ensure that key infrastructure operates at an acceptable level, supporting the community's resilience and recovery. Quick Facts About Emergency Works: Immediate Action Required: Councils must notify the administering agency within 24 hours when Emergency Works are underway, detailing the scope and estimated cost. Timely Completion: Works must be finished within 3 months of the asset becoming accessible (21 days for 'opt-out' councils). Evidence Collection: Pre-disaster condition evidence, damage evidence, and completion of works evidence are mandatory, ensuring transparency and accountability. Documentation: Councils must maintain an accurate audit trail for 7 years, ready to provide documentation if requested. Emergency Works are a priority for councils, undertaken urgently even without declared disasters or guaranteed funding. These actions highlight the commitment to maintaining public safety and infrastructure integrity, ensuring communities bounce back swiftly from unforeseen events. #drfa #emergencyworks #disasterrecovery
