?? Check out this short video we produced on Connecticut's unspoken crisis. These young people exist in every city and town in our state. Until we acknowledge this is a crisis, we cannot take the steps necessary to begin solving it. ?? https://lnkd.in/egWWk9mb
关于我们
Founded by Barbara Dalio, Dalio Education collaborates with educators, schools, nonprofit organizations, and communities across Connecticut to engage young people and achieve positive youth outcomes. Our approach is grounded in direct engagement with young people, educators, youth development professionals, community leaders, and other experts. We believe that people who are most impacted by the challenges in our education system understand them best and have the perspectives and knowledge needed to make real change. By listening, learning, and acting on insights, we work in collaboration with our partners to find and amplify successful practices and help turn promising ideas into reality for Connecticut’s young people, investing more than $150 million since 2015. Dalio Education created the Connecticut Opportunity Project (CTOP) as a social investment fund to invest in and help strengthen non-profit organizations in Connecticut serving youth who are severely off-track or disconnected from school and employment. In addition, Dalio Education founded the Connecticut RISE Network as a nonprofit organization to facilitate improvement networks across schools and districts to ensure students graduate with a plan and the skills and confidence to achieve college and career success.

Meet Alivia Langley, the Program Manager for Connecticut Violence Intervention and Prevention and a graduate of the 2023 inaugural cohort of the University of Chicago Crime Lab's Community Violence Intervention Leadership Academy (CVILA). We spoke with Alivia to learn how her experience in the CVILA has shaped her work. "I knew how important an effective database was to be able to tell the story of our workers and the work that they’re doing and the community violence that we’re stopping. As I started going through the sessions and learning about how important data was and how we could use it to really change someone’s life, that sealed the deal for me." ?? “Through improved system coordination coupled with culturally-responsive, trauma-informed practices that prioritize rehabilitation over punitive measures, we can do better by our young people, and help them achieve goals and aspirations they hold that are so much bigger than just themselves, including their children, families, and communities. ? As one young woman reflected: “Construction would really help me because I really want to build something for the children. I want to build something for the homeless where you don’t have to be on the streets no more. I want to do that in every community that I go to. I want to help every community that I can.” Click the link below to read the full Op-Ed by CTOP Portfolio Director, Samantha Miller. #RISENetwork educators came together for a postsecondary-focused PD session at Naugatuck HS. We worked together to benchmark school progress relative to network goals, celebrate school bright spots, introduce a feedback-data-action protocol, and promote change ideas. The day also featured NHS summer academy students for a panel discussion and showcased catering from NHS students in the culinary department.
