March is an ideal time to service your home cooling system, ensuring it runs efficiently when the heat of summer arrives. ? Routine maintenance, like cleaning or replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels and inspecting parts, can improve your system's energy efficiency and lower your energy bills. ? By addressing potential issues early, you can avoid costly emergency repairs and extend the lifespan of your unit. ? Scheduling service in the spring helps you beat the peak-season rush, giving you faster access to qualified technicians. A well-maintained cooling system can save energy and keep your home comfortable all summer long. #facts #energytip #staycoolponyboy

In light of the 25% federal tariffs on Canadian imports, as well as the levy of 10% on Canadian natural gas, oil, and electricity that went into effect this week, we wanted to share some information we received from Great River Energy (GRE), our wholesale power provider. Thanks to its diverse portfolio made up of resources in the Midwest, GRE expects little impact on electric costs or grid reliability due to the tariffs at this time. GRE received 2% of their energy from Manitoba Hydro in 2024. Additionally, Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), the operator overseeing the electric grid for 15 states (including Minnesota) and Manitoba, received less than 1% of their total energy from Canadian imports – roughly the equivalent of one power plant. Natural gas prices could rise as a result of the tariffs or export restrictions by Canada but the overall electricity market will likely be stable for now. Although some raw materials used in the distribution of energy may be affected by import tariffs, we are proud to report that Dakota Electric has a long history of buying almost entirely American products. This is a fluid situation we are monitoring closely. We will continue to keep you up-to-date via our Circuits newsletter, website and social media pages.
