This initiative requires companies operating in the United States to disclose information about the individuals who truly own or control them, thereby enhancing accountability. By identifying the real owners behind legal entities such as corporations, trusts, or partnerships, authorities can better track illicit financial activities. As a bank, we want to ensure our small business customers are aware of these requirements and can avoid potential legal issues. Contrary to common myths, BOI reporting is not limited to large corporations; it can apply to small and medium-sized businesses in our community. Dakota Community Bank & Trust branches are currently hosting a Pajama Drive to support Project Ignite Light. This faith-based organization plays a crucial role in supporting children who have been victims of sexual and physical abuse, neglect, and human trafficking. This initiative aims to provide children with essential items during their examination at local Children's Advocacy Centers. The Pajama Drive is a significant part of this effort, as it ensures children have comfortable clothing during a difficult time. It's heartbreaking to note that according to the National Children's Alliance, nearly 700,000 children are abused in the U.S. each year. This underscores the importance of initiatives like the Pajama Drive and the invaluable work done by organizations like Project Ignite Light.
