Dairy Council of California is excited to share the impactful results of My First 1,000 Days: A Dairy Initiative! This one-year pilot, funded by Legacy Health Endowment and in partnership with {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:organization:165647|Raley's)}} and local community organizations, supported families with children under age two in Merced and Stanislaus counties. By providing access to essential, culturally relevant dairy foods through local Raley's/Nob Hill stores, the initiative made a difference in underserved communities. We were honored to present our session, First 1000 Days: Advancing Nutrition Security for Infants and Toddlers in Communities of Color, at the Head Start California Health Institute. Together with pediatric RDN Hope Wills, we explored the value of nutrition education, best practices for early childhood feeding and integrating cultural food traditions to support health in diverse communities. Happy to share we just finished hosting our Dairy Council of California Board of Directors meeting in Napa, California. Two highlights of the meeting included Sydney Dawes, DCC warehouse foreman, retirment recognition honoring him for his 42 years of service elevating the health of kids and communities. And Michelle Drake, director of Food and Nutrition Services for the Elk Grove Unified School District and a Let’s Eat Healthy Leadership awardee, presented on the impact her program has on community health and the 30+ year partnership with DCC supporting student nutrition security through our services and nutrition education solutions.
