Yesterday, I told a recruiter to do these THREE things to help CANDIDATES she has REJECTED land jobs easily.
We had a virtual meeting.
1. TELL THE CANDIDATES THEIR STRENGTH.
- Let them know why they still stand a chance to land another job despite not being successful at that time. You can also recommend what they should add/avoid in their CVs or during interviews.
This will help them know what to apply for, and find the strength to continue.
2. ISSUE FEEDBACKS ASAP
- Let candidates know they were not successful at that time. If possible, do this on call too, and have a conversation on any of their concerns.
- Don't keep them waiting forever.
- Don't wait until candidates ask or follow up.
3. RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANOTHER JOB
- If you are not hiring at that time, you can also recommend them to your network for any suitable vacancies.
- You can also hire them for an alternative role.
Whether hiring or not, you can help them.
Dear hirers,
Job searching can be emotionally, financially, and mentally draining.
Many are feeling like giving up.
Many are crying daily, asking when the will tables turn in their favor.
At one point we were all job seekers,
A little empathy and respect goes a long way. Let's make the recruiting process more humane.
