关于我们
The Air Force Historical Research Agency is the repository for Air Force historical documents. The Agency's collection, begun in Washington, DC, during World War II, moved in 1949 to Maxwell Air Force Base, the site of Air University, to provide research facilities for professional military education students, the faculty, visiting scholars, and the general public. It consists today of over 100,000,000 pages devoted to the history of the service, and represents the world's largest and most valuable organized collection of documents on US military aviation. ----- https://www.af.mil/Disclaimer/ https://www.dma.mil/Services/Visual-Information/References/Limitations/

Due to inclement weather and hazardous driving conditions, Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex have declared a "Key and Essential Personnel Only" reporting status, effective immediately. As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all personnel, only those designated as key and essential are required to report to work on January 21 and 22, 2025. Personnel should contact their supervisor or chain of command for clarification on their reporting status. For this reason, the AFHRA Reading Rooms will remain closed until January 23, 2025. These measures are taken to minimize risks associated with hazardous driving conditions and to prioritize the safety of all base personnel. For the latest updates on base operations, closures, and adjusted hours, please visit the Maxwell Air Force Base website: www.maxwell.af.mil The base will resume normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so. The safety of our personnel is our top priority, and we appreciate the cooperation and understanding of all base personnel and their families.

Here are some great tips on how to request military service records for our citizen archivists!
In our first National Archives Catalog newsletter of 2025, we’re reflecting on the key updates and tools introduced in 2024 to enhance your research experience. Highlights include improvements to Advanced Search, limiting your search to user-added content, and the addition of Optical Character Recognition highlighting search terms in digitized records. Military service records from World War I onward remain accessible via the Veterans’ Service Records page (https://loom.ly/pZt4HgI). We’ve also shared tips for refining searches, introduced AI-extracted text for Revolutionary War Pensions, and provided transcription resources for Citizen Archivists. With new FAQs, how-to videos, and a call for feedback through surveys, we’re committed to ongoing improvements. For those starting research, the History Hub continues to be a valuable resource for guidance and answers.
