humane, the maker of a well-publicized AI pin, has shut down. For those of you following along, you may remember that for a time, they were selling fewer units than they were receiving in returns. https://lnkd.in/egmSCkJr We continue to applaud bold innovation, but without a strong link to validated needs, the risks are monumental. And it is hard to find an easier human-computer interaction than scanning a list of options with your eyes and picking the one you want with your fingertip. However, voice interfaces do have some compelling use cases. Meta's Ray Ban smart glasses with voice interface are serving blind people?well and at a consumer product price. Valentine’s Day may have passed, but heart health is always in season. For young children relying on pediatric heart pumps (VAD), the ability to move and interact with caregivers is life-changing. But managing the external components—like controllers, batteries, and cabling—presents challenges. We conceptualized a management system that balances functionality with human connection. Through research, expert interviews, and observations in pediatric cardiac care, we created personas and used scenarios that informed our design. The result? A set of refined concepts that seamlessly integrate into a child’s life—so they can be more than just a patient.
