What will Britain’s first female chancellor announce on childcare in the budget tomorrow and will it be enough to get parents back to work? Amelia Miller, cofounder of ivee | The return-to-work platform, joined us to discuss on the Bloomberg UK Politics Podcast. Hosted with Yuan Potts, produced by Tiwa Adebayo. This morning I spoke on the Bloomberg Politics podcast to discuss the UK’s aging population and tomorrow’s Budget—and how they intersect with workforce dynamics. What did we discuss? ??? Workers aged 50 and over now make up 32.6% of the UK workforce, up from just 21% in the early 1990s. Projections suggest this will rise to 37% by 2040. ?? How does this demographic shift impact economic growth and productivity, as businesses increasingly rely on older, skilled employees to fill crucial roles? Supporting this group’s ongoing contribution to the workforce through accessible, targeted re-skilling and flexible opportunities is essential. ?? Childcare will likely be a major focus in tomorrows budget. Could we see 100,000 new childcare places? It’s also a prime opportunity to advocate for flexibility in the workplace—not only to support the aging workforce but to boost fertility rates by making work more adaptable for parents and caregivers. Thanks for having me Lizzy Burden Yuan Potts Caroline Hepker Stephen Carroll! Listen here ?? https://lnkd.in/eskxM5mn Bloomberg News Tiwa Adebayo

'Family' could become a central theme in the November election. Good. It is time. #Dadsforchildcare #uselection #business #businessandfamily

'Mom's Morning Out' programs are offered by local churches all over America, essentially providing a flexible day-to-day pre-school offering for families. Though the name suggests that its origins may have had a slightly different context; these programs can be a 'life-saver', when short notice care is needed, full care is out of reach, or when kids are very young. We at 'Dads for Childcare' have appreciated the value of these offerings first hand. So THANK YOU from the Dads. #Dadsforchildcare

Fixed it. This is where it starts. Though the majority of childcare still falls on one partner; we must stop to assume that; and make it more normal that both partners are equally affected by childcare (and the lack thereof, particularly in the summer!) #Dadsforchildcare

'Moms' are gaining economic influence in American families - will this change the role of 'Dads' in the discussion on childcare? #dadsforchildcare #business Source: https://lnkd.in/eK7Ce4Wx.
