It is a real joy to congratulate Stefan Robichaux on his recent promotion to Senior Vice President - Development and Construction. It was 9 years ago when Jon and I decided to hire our first employee. We needed a person who could take over my duties and run the development and construction activities for our new company. The problem was, we only had one project, no money, and a website that didn’t work because I forgot to pay the Godaddy bill. [Stefan enters] With a bank statement, proof we had enough money to pay him for at least one year, Stefan left his job as a concrete superintendent, packed his new family, and moved to Atlanta to join us. He traded his F250 with a bed mounted diesel fuel tank, toolbox, and drop hitch for a F150 with an attache case and pair of Oxford wingtips. He went from running a single construction discipline to running the entire construction project including engineers and design team. Within 2 short months he was running our project - The Atwater- and I was officially pushed out of my construction duties once and for all. You know “People” like Stefan are a rare breed. He is an alchemist’s blend of drive, pride, work ethic, intelligence, wit, cognitive flexibility, inquisitiveness, integrity, loyalty, with just the right pinch of distrust to keeping him looking over his shoulder for problems. Stefan’s impact spreads beyond the duties of the construction site and I can honestly say D&G would not be where we are today without him. I’m thrilled that he still comes to work everyday with enthusiasn, pride in his duties, and a constant desire to perfect his craft. Who does that? People who love what they do and where they do it! Announcement: Tiffany Jackson has been promoted to Senior Vice President!! (posting this so makes my heart full) Tiffany’s trajectory within our company has been just a smidge slower than the speed of light. Seven years ago she reluctantly decided to leave her job in the pharmacy department of Kroger, drive a hour in traffic (each way) just to sit behind a broken desk in our lobby as an office manager for 3 guys trying to figure out how this development game works. Today she runs all our operations, finance, and risk management, is part of the executive team, and has a set of instincts and intuition of a developer. In fact in 2 months from now we will break ground on a shopping center in Covington that Tiffany Jackson originated, aptly called Jackson Market. Her story is quite remarkable, then again maybe not if you were to meet Tiffany as she is quite remarkable. Behind the professional recognition and milestones that mark her career is embedded the emotional and intellectual DNA that makes her who she has become. I could crash the servers of LinkedIn describing Tiffany but instead I will leave just three words I think best describe her: Loyal, Proud, and Grateful. Congratulations Tiffany!
