Why are CGA Outlet Connections Left-handed or right-handed? The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) requires unique designs for CGA outlet connections to prevent the possibility of hazardous misconnections. Left-handed CGA outlet connections are designed for all toxic, poisonous, corrosive, and flammable gases. CGA outlet connections can be identified by a V-groove in the hexagon nut and the second digit of the CGA number is odd. For example, ? CGA 350 is Hydrogen ? CGA 510 is Acetylene ? CGA 590 is Air Right-handed CGA outlet connections are designed for non-flammable, non-oxidizing gases. CGA fitting can be identified because they have a standard unmarked hexagon nut and the second digit of the CGA number is even. For example, ? CGA 540 is Oxygen ?
