From the start, our business has been a family affair driven by an interest in cycling and product development. CycleSafe owners, Richard and Susan Hartger, met at a high school reunion and married in 1992. Susan has her master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Michigan, and in the late 1980s, they started working together and ran CycleSafe out of their home. Hannah, their daughter and CycleSafe VP, joined the business after graduating from Michigan State University in 2018. She planned to stay for the summer and left for about a year to work in the furniture industry. It didn't take long to realize the family business fit her skills and personal passions best. “I love it. I don't think that I would want to be working doing anything else,” she says.
