CYCLE's Earn-A-Bike program ties achievement in reading to the thrills of two wheels through this three-step approach: ?? 2nd grade students and their parent or guardian sign a contract with the teacher outlining their reading goals for the school year. ?? Students work hard to achieve their goals during the school year. ?? When students meet their reading goals, they are awarded a brand new bike! How's that for motivation?! ??

It was a fun day in the office, yesterday! Every month our company gets together for 'Huddle Week', a week of collaboration, in-person meetings, volunteer events and more! Yesterday, we got a chance to volunteer with CYCLE Houston- CHANGING YOUNG CHILDRENS LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION, which is a children’s charity committed to improving literacy among children in grades K-3 in Title One schools of the Greater Houston area. Students are rewarded with brand-new bicycles after they achieve defined academic goals. This was such a great team bonding experience, and I enjoyed getting to know my coworkers even more while giving back to the community. Kathleen Quilligan Sebastian

Not only does Owens Corning build bikes—they also know how to have fun doing it! ????? Last week, nearly 200 of their employees built 250 bikes in less than two hours. Some of the builders were even blindfolded, taking instructions from others to construct a bike as a team building exercise. The bikes, funded by Owens Corning's generous donation, are to be delivered to students in Klein ISD at the end of semester once their reading goals are met. ??
