Cyanite for Innovators Spotlight: Part 4 Cyanite for Innovators is our initiative designed to empower researchers, artists and creative coders working on non-commercial projects that explore AI’s potential in music, arts and research. By providing access to our AI-powered music analysis tools, we support groundbreaking work that pushes the boundaries of creativity and knowledge. This week, we’re spotlighting an inspiring research project at the University of Vienna and HMTM Hanover: ?? Human Meets AI in the Study of Queer Music by Miguel Machulla, Dr. Ann-Kristin Herget (Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, Germany), and J?rg Mühlhans (University of Vienna, Austria) The team of researchers is comparing a human-coded analysis of 125 songs labeled as queer music, focusing on emotional tone, kitsch, queer representation in the lyrics, and performer identity, with AI-generated data provided by Cyanite. The aim is to explore how human and machine perspectives align or diverge in identifying key characteristics of queer music. In a second step, the project includes 125 mainstream songs to allow for comparison between queer and non-queer music based on AI analysis alone. By combining human-coded analysis with music AI, the project offers a new approach to understanding how music reflects identity, affect, and representation. ?? Why Cyanite for Innovators? ? Empowering research & creativity – AI as a tool for social and cultural exploration ? Providing access to technology – Cyanite’s API supports in-depth music analysis ? Fostering diversity & inclusion – Supporting projects that amplify underrepresented voices We’re proud to support research that uses AI to explore music’s impact on identity and culture. Stay tuned for more incredible projects from the Cyanite for Innovators community! ?? Are you working on an AI-driven research or creative project? ?? AI search in music – we’re all learning ?? We came across these AI search guidelines from our partner Soundtaxi Music and had to share. It’s not just a guide; it’s a helpful reminder that interacting with AI is a skill, especially when it comes to music search. Here’s how Soundtaxi breaks it down ?? https://lnkd.in/eHgYCxyG One of the key takeaways? Short prompts = weak results. The more context and emotion you give, the better the AI can understand and deliver what you're looking for. It's the difference between: ?? “Laid-back future bass with defiant female vocal"? And ??? "Chill music with singer" We’re all figuring out how to ‘talk’ to AI. Whether you're a music supervisor, content creator or just exploring what AI can do, clear, descriptive language goes a long way. Thanks to Soundtaxi for setting a great example of how to make AI search more accessible and effective. #AI #MusicSearch #PromptEngineering #MusicTech #AIMusic ?? ?? Cyanite for Innovators Spotlight – Part 3 Cyanite for Innovators is all about empowering creative minds to push the boundaries of AI, music and technology in non-commercial projects. By providing access to Cyanite’s AI-powered music analysis tools, we help researchers, artists and developers bring their ideas to life. This week, we’re featuring an exciting project that reimagines how music is shared and queued in group settings: ?? Kristóf Kasza – MusiQ: Smart Queuing for Shared Music As part of his thesis at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Kristóf Kasza developed MusiQ, a multi-user service that intelligently sorts song requests. Using Cyanite’s API, MusiQ analyzes key, genre, BPM, and mood to create seamless, vibe-matching playlists. How It Works: ? Built with a FastAPI backend, Docker, and a Flutter frontend ? Uses AI-powered analysis to create smooth, dynamic transitions between songs ? Earned top marks for its innovative approach to collaborative music experiences Kristóf’s success with MusiQ is just the beginning. He’s eager to develop it further, and we can’t wait to see where it goes next! ?? Got an AI-driven research or creative project in the works? From Cyanite 1.0 to 2.0 - bridging the gap between development & data science. We’re in the middle of an?exciting transformation?at Cyanite, moving from?Cyanite 1.0 to 2.0. Like any major tech infrastructure upgrade, it’s been a journey of?learning, iteration, and growth. Lesson #1: Creating more collaboration between development & data science. Early on, we saw that our?Development and Data Science teams?approached challenges from different angles. While both moved fast, alignment wasn’t always seamless, leading to?miscommunication and inefficiencies. So how did we bring them closer together? ?? Structured collaboration beyond the screen. In addition to refining?processes and documentation, we took collaboration?offline, hosting?in-person hackathons where teams tackled?specific, high-impact challenges together.?These sessions weren’t just about coding; they were about?breaking silos, exchanging perspectives, and learning from one another in real time. ? And what helped us improve collaboration? ? ? Standardized terminology?– A shared language across models, datasets, and services. ? A central knowledge base?– Keeping everyone aligned with up-to-date documentation. ? Regular cross-functional syncs?– Ensuring Development & Data Science remain tightly connected. ??Hackathons & in-person meetups?– Focused deep dives into key challenges to foster hands-on collaboration. ?? Remote-first, but always connected. As a?hybrid/remote?company, we believe collaboration doesn’t just happen in meetings. It happens?through intentional connections, structured alignment, and moments of in-person deep work. Cyanite 2.0 is being built on a?stronger, more integrated foundation, where tech and data truly work hand in hand. #SoftwareEngineering #DataScience #AI #TechLeadership #MachineLearning #Cyanite2.0

How can AI validate what we already feel? ?? This super cool breakdown by Renato Horvath of a #sync decision for Vodafone X Dig shows how Cyanite’s emotional analysis can validate and articulate an instinct—proving that while we don't need #AI to feel the power of #music, it can help us understand why a song resonates so deeply. Thanks, Renato Horvath, for sharing this insight! ???? ?? Read the full post below!

Reverse-engineering a sync decision: What I felt vs. what the data says. Music in ads is all about?emotion. But the geek in me likes to step back and see how tech could quantify what we experience emotionally For the recent merge?campaign for?Vodafone x Dig (became ONE), we initially considered?A Sky Full of Stars?by Coldplay. It’s?epic, uplifting, and inspiring—an obvious choice. But for several reasons, we ended up licensing Benson Boone’s?Beautiful Things?instead. At the time, this wasn’t a?consciously analytical decision—it just?felt right. But looking back, I got curious:?What would tech say about this choice? So, I ran both songs through Cyanite?emotional analysis, and here’s what it revealed: ???Coldplay’s track?leans into?happiness, energy, and grandeur—a big, euphoric anthem. ???Benson Boone’s track?blends?uplift with a touch of melancholy and introspection, creating a deeper emotional complexity. And this matched exactly what I felt. This wasn’t just another campaign—it marked?the merger of two brands into one.?People weren’t just getting a rebrand; they were also?saying goodbye to a brand they had known for years?and?starting a new journey with something unfamiliar. The emotional depth of?Beautiful Things?subtly captured this transition: ??Uplifting, because change brings new opportunities. ??Nostalgic, because people were leaving something behind. ??Hopeful, because they were moving forward. What’s the takeaway? Humans don’t need AI to feel the emotional impact of music.?We already experience it.?But sometimes, tech can help us?validate, understand, or articulate?why something resonates so deeply. Would love to hear from others in?sync, branding, and storytelling—have you ever had a creative choice that “just felt right,” and later realized there was a deeper reason behind it?
