We are very excited to announce our new Podcast called The Power of Connection. 3 ways to get execs to back your community program (via Christopher Detzel) Convincing leadership to care about something new isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible. Here are a few tips to win them over: 1. Align community’s value with their priorities. Community can solve a lot of problems, but execs only care about their problems. Tailor your pitch to each leader’s goals. For example, if it’s a CMO, highlight community as a lead magnet and pipeline builder. Show how it supports content creation, SEO, and product storytelling from real users. 2/ Focus small to win big. Community can touch every part of the business, but trying to be everything for everyone from the start will burn you out and lose trust. Instead pick one measurable goal for the first six months. Find an internal champion who already sees the potential of community and will advocate for it. Then deliver early wins. It’s better to overdeliver on one goal than underdeliver on five. 3/ Use data to tell a story, not just prove a point. Communities generate an overwhelming amount of data, but execs don’t need to see every chart and metric. What they need is a clear story that ties the data to business outcomes. Pair your numbers with real-life examples. A testimonial from a customer who solved a problem faster thanks to the community can bring those metrics to life in a way graphs alone never will. Chris shared these insights (and much more) as the first guest on “Power of Connection,” our brand-new podcast hosted by Paul Schneider of Higher Logic. In each episode, Paul sits down with business and community leaders to talk about what it really takes to build communities that deliver value for organizations and for members. In this episode, Chris shares his journey to becoming ZoomInfo’s community leader—how he got started, lessons learned, and his vision for the future. ?? The Power of Stepping Away from Your Desk Just released an episode of DFW Running Talk featuring my twin brother Buddy Detzel, a Licensed Professional Counselor, where we dive into something crucial for every professional: the importance of having an outlet beyond work. ?? Key Discussion Points: ? How physical activity impacts workplace mental resilience ? Building authentic connections outside your professional network ? Using exercise as a stress management tool ? The science behind movement and mental clarity ? Converting work pressure into productive energy As business leaders, we often focus on metrics, deadlines, and bottom lines. But my brother shared a compelling perspective: our most innovative thinking often happens when we step away from the spreadsheets and emails. Whether it's running (like us), yoga, cycling, or any physical activity - having that outlet isn't just about health. It's about being a better leader, manager, and colleague. "You got to regulate your nervous system," as Buddy puts it, "and exercising is a wonderful way to do that." In today's high-pressure business environment, this couldn't be more relevant. ?? ??♂? THE ELITE MINDSET: LESSONS FROM SUB-3 HOUR MARATHONERS Had the privilege of hosting two exceptional individuals on DFW Running Talk: Brent Woodle (2:28 marathoner) and Javier Trilla (2:50 marathoner). What struck me wasn't just their incredible athletic achievements, but how their approach to running mirrors their professional success. Key insights on excellence that translate across domains: 1. Consistency Over Motivation "It's an atomic habits thing," Brent explains about his 120-mile training weeks. "If you do something every day for a while, you'll get very good at that thing." Sound familiar, business leaders? 2. Data-Driven Performance Both runners meticulously track their training, nutrition, and recovery - the same analytical approach that drives business success. They understand that what gets measured gets managed. 3. Embracing Discomfort "Winter's the best training, but it is the hardest," says Javier. Elite performers don't wait for perfect conditions - they excel despite challenges. 4. Community Leadership From mentoring new runners to building training groups, they understand that lifting others helps everyone rise. True leadership isn't just about personal achievement. 5. Strategic Long-Term Planning Their marathon preparation mirrors project management - detailed planning, risk management, and execution strategies, all while maintaining flexibility. The parallels between athletic and professional excellence are clear: whether you're chasing a sub-3 hour marathon or leading a business transformation, success comes from consistent effort, strategic planning, and embracing challenges. Leadership Lessons From a Father's Tough Love One morning in Dallas, a teenage Dr. Logan Sherman, lay in bed, still wearing his Abercrombie shirt from the night before. He'd committed to running his first half marathon, but like many young athletes, he was trying to back out. His father came in three times: "45 minutes till we leave." "30 minutes to go." "15 minutes left." Finally, his father did something unexpected – he grabbed his son by the foot, pulled him out of bed, and delivered words that would shape Logan's entire approach to leadership: "I'm going to teach you a lesson. When you give somebody your word that you're going to do something and you're going to commit to it, you're going to do it." Angry and frustrated, Logan went to that race. But something remarkable happened. Running on pure emotion and determination, he found himself with the lead pack. By the finish line, he had won his first Dallas Half Marathon. Today, Logan Sherman isn't just a former Dallas Marathon champion – he's the Chairman of the Board for runDallas, leading an organization that brings together 30,000+ participants annually. With a lean team of just four people, they manage one of America's premier marathons while supporting Scottish Rite for Children. The lesson his father taught him that morning continues to guide his leadership philosophy: commitments matter, integrity is non-negotiable, and sometimes our greatest achievements come right after our moments of greatest resistance. As leaders, we all face mornings when we want to stay in bed. But it's what we do in those moments that defines our legacy. Listen to Logan's full journey on the latest DFW Running Talk podcast in the comments. What commitment are you honoring today that could lead to tomorrow's victory? #Leadership #BusinessLeadership #Integrity #PersonalDevelopment #RunningCommunity #DallasMarathon #ExecutiveLeadership #NonprofitLeadership

?? The Shift to User-Generated Content: Google’s Focus on Authenticity ?? In today’s digital landscape, Google is shifting its priorities toward user-generated content. ?? Instead of purely ranking AI-generated blogs and generic content, search engines now favor what real users say in communities and forums. This is a powerful shift that emphasizes authenticity over automation. As Christopher Detzel points out in recent?SaugaTalks, this trend is crucial because it highlights that AI isn’t replacing humans;?our roles are evolving. The future isn’t about AI taking over but adapting and adjusting to new ways of creating value. ?? Why This Matters for Businesses: - Community voices will play a more significant role in content strategy. - Human input will remain essential for engaging and high-ranking content. - AI can still support the process, but user-driven insights will lead the way. At SaugaTalks, we believe in embracing these changes and leveraging human creativity and AI capabilities to thrive. Let’s discuss how this shift impacts your strategy and what steps you can take to stay ahead. ??? #SaugaTalks #UserGeneratedContent #AI #DigitalMarketing #ContentStrategy #SEO #DigitalTransformation
