We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Ajith Kumar - an extraordinary wildlife biologist, mentor, and friend. His passion for wildlife and dedication to education shaped the lives of countless scientists and conservationists in India. His legacy will continue through the students and researchers he guided, the knowledge he shared, and the inspiration he provided. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his impact will remain. #ConservationLeaders #WildlifeConservation #Legacy #Mentor Dr. Krithi K. Karanth

Growing up in the foothills of the Western Ghats in Gundlupet, I never imagined that my path would lead me to conservation. For years, I worked in the medical transcription field, unaware of the possibilities beyond it. My perspective shifted when I met my friend Nagachandan, who introduced me to the world of wildlife and conservation. He encouraged me to take drone shots for a project at CWS, and that one opportunity changed everything. What started as a single assignment turned into six months of freelancing and eventually a full-time role as a drone pilot. The more I worked with drones, the more I realized how technology could transform conservation efforts. The ability to capture landscapes from above and turn those visuals into meaningful insights keeps me motivated to keep learning whether it’s refining mapping techniques or keeping up with new advancements. At CWS, I appreciate the freedom to explore innovative ideas and work alongside people who are passionate about making a difference. Fun Fact: I love editing my drone shots with dark tones, and when I’m not flying drones, you will probably find me deep in a tech rabbit hole. #WildlifeConservation #DronePhotography #ConservationEfforts #WesternGhats #DronePilot
