  • This week we spent some time preparing for two upcoming programs that we offer in collaboration with Elizabethtown College ! This April we will launch our 2nd session of “Growing SEEDS Parent & Child Play Group.” In this group (designed for the parent or care giver along with their child who is between birth & 4) we explore, play and learn together. This May we will launch a pilot program, which collaborates with the Conestoga Valley School District Middle School & the Occupational Therapist at E-Town College, entitled “SEEDS Leads ~ Community Leaders Club”. This will be an exciting opportunity for the Middle Schoolers in our community! This club connects students of all abilities, through a buddy system, and fosters connections within the CV community.   • Tonight we concluded our first session of Grow & Bloom: CV Creative Community. For the past 8 weeks volunteers have donated meals for the attendees to share together & have volunteered in childcare. For the past 8 weeks adults, in this small group, have been a part of something beautiful. We recognize the gift that creative expression can bring to a difficult situation. With that in mind & because we are grateful for the gift of wellness and healing that can come from purposeful creative expression, at the direction of a trained professional ~ we created Grow & Bloom. We are grateful for a grant, in partnership with PaARTners (of Millersville University of Pennsylvania to bring this gift & opportunities to some of our families. We are grateful for the many volunteers who made these past 8 weeks meaningful. #cvseeds #wellness #creativeart #arttherapy #cvcommunity #cvyoubelonghere

    Monday Motivation ??? A common misconception about homelessness is that people experiencing it are lazy. That couldn’t be further from the truth. This morning, I arrived at one of our Good Sam locations a little earlier than usual—before 7:00 AM. What I witnessed was inspiring. One single mother had her little one bundled up in a stroller, ready to take her to daycare before heading to work. Another mom, dressed in her medical assistant scrubs, had all three of her children dressed and prepared for school and daycare before starting her own workday. These women are working tirelessly to build a better future for their families. Their dedication and resilience are all the Monday motivation I need to keep fighting for those who are working hard to transition from crisis to stability. Homelessness and poverty isn’t about laziness. It’s about hardship, and more often than not, it’s about determined people striving for a second chance.

  • We are so grateful for the many business partnerships we have!! Today we are highlighting Brentwood Homes! When we asked them to share their reason behind their choice to support SEEDS they said ~ “We are excited to partner with you this year in monthly giving and encouraged by the work SEEDS is doing in our community. Our heart for SEEDS stems from our heart for Conestoga Valley. We desire to put our time and money behind organizations that are benefiting the people that we are surrounded by in our schools and in our neighborhood. SEEDS is doing just that!” Brentwood Homes has volunteered to provide a meal with our adult ESL classes, sponsored a beautiful and fun event during last years Extra Give and are now monthly donors to SEEDS! We are so grateful for their hearts that bend towards community, care, generosity and others. Thank you!!!   • We love to collaborate with other organizations who have similar hearts! As we continue to grow services under our “Housing Resources” focus, we are excited about this partnership. One of the programs of Bridge of Hope National involves what they call “Neighboring Volunteers” ~ this is a group of 6-10 people (men, women, married and/or single) who will commit to walk alongside a family for 12-24 months as they work towards financial stability. As Bridge of Hope connects with families who are CV families & would benefit from this service, we thought it would be a beautiful gift to have the Neighboring Volunteers also be CV residents.
