Last week, we had the immense honor of celebrating the graduation of our Central Valley Latino Leadership Academy Cohort 6! A heartfelt thank you to the Fresno City College Latino Faculty and Staff Association for partnering with us to make this momentous occasion a reality. With over 160 graduates across six cohorts, CVLLA’s impact now extends to eight Central Valley counties, from Kern to San Joaquin. Given that nearly 50% of the Central Valley's population is Latino, we recognize the importance of preparing Latino leaders to take on pivotal roles. By doing so, we ensure that decision-making bodies reflect the communities they serve. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that decisions are best made by individuals who come from the community and intimately understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities faced by their fellow community members. We also want to extend a special thank you to Lilia Gonzales-Chavez DFA, for sponsoring the mariachi group that infused our celebration with vibrant energy. We were privileged to hear inspiring remarks from Rep. Jim Costa, Asm.
