  • 2024 in Review This year started as a year of change. We were fortunate to welcome Hunter to the team—his eager, go-getter attitude and willingness to tackle new challenges have been a fantastic addition to Cutting Edge Metals! Our backlog remained strong, and we went full speed ahead—working weekends, bringing in family, part-time employees, and interns to meet demand. The months flew by, and before we knew it, summer had arrived! One of the highlights of the year was our networking event in August at the Evergreen Space Museum, where we partnered with PNAA, MEDP, and the McMinnville Chamber to showcase the growing aerospace sector. The turnout exceeded expectations, making it a huge success! We continued to push forward through the summer, supporting other machine shops with overflow work and keeping our momentum strong. Then, in September, our world changed. We unexpectedly lost our daughter, the one in our family who knew our business well. Getting back up and moving forward was one of the hardest lessons we’ve ever faced. Through it all, our network of friends, customers, suppliers, and community lifted us up. We felt the virtual hugs, the kindness, and the unwavering support, which meant more than words can express. In October, we hosted our annual open house—a decision that wasn’t easy, but one that felt necessary. It was a step toward normalcy, and in many ways, a reminder of why we keep moving forward. November brought another incredible event at the Evergreen Museum—a half-day Aerospace & AI Summit. With the help of MEDP, PNAA, Evergreen Museum & Events, and the Chamber, we explored the UAV sector, AI in business, and cutting-edge propulsion research from OSU aerospace students. As December arrived, we embraced the quiet of the holidays—spending time with family, doing maintenance in the shop, and reflecting on the year. Through the highs and the unimaginable lows, we were blessed by unexpected pillars of support and strength—from our business community and our loved ones. Here’s to 2025—whatever it may bring, we’ll keep moving forward.

Dear Friends and Supporters, I’m reaching out to you during a difficult time to share a cause that was very close to my daughter Shaye Robertson's heart. On September 23rd, Shaye unexpectedly passed away at the young age of 28 due to heart complications. She was a passionate advocate for the manufacturing industry, dedicating her career to helping others discover the same rewarding opportunities that she cherished. Shaye began her journey in manufacturing in 2016, working alongside me and quickly proving her talent and dedication. As the shipping and receiving lead, she ensured customer parts were treated with care and precision, but her true passion was in uplifting others. She encouraged friends and family to explore careers in manufacturing, believing that everyone should have the chance to pursue a fulfilling livelihood. To honor Shaye’s memory, we are creating a scholarship fund for students to attend the first Oregon Aero-Connect-Symposium at the Evergreen Museum on November 14th. Many high school and college students are interested in STEM and aerospace careers and would like to attend; however, many of these aspiring professionals face financial barriers, and school budgets are falling short. We aim to sponsor a minimum of 30 students, allowing them to attend the symposium and explore the exciting opportunities in our field. Your support can help us inspire the next generation of innovators and creators in aerospace and manufacturing. Would you consider donating to help honor Shaye’s legacy? Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and ensure that more students can experience this valuable event. Thank you for your kindness and support in celebrating Shaye’s passion and helping others find their paths. You may sponsor students in Shaye's name on the event registration page. https://lnkd.in/gYKxjEpq

Happy Friday! This weekend, in between making chips (the aluminum kind) and playing with excavators on the farm, we will be busy prepping all of the yummy stuff for the Open House/BBQ on Thursday! Who is coming? There will be some fun prizes, great food, adult beverages, a chance to check out what we do here, and networking too! Can't wait to see you there!
