关于我们
Located in the heart of the City, Curry Senior Center helps meet seniors' essential needs for health care, meals, housing, and social connections – right in their own neighborhood. Through its collaborative partnerships and integrated delivery of services, Curry cares for one of the most diverse, vulnerable – and invisible – populations in the City. Many are homeless or isolated with few financial or family resources to buffer the challenges of aging. Curry responds to each individual as a whole person with unique needs. Whether it's counseling, dental care, or in-home support – or simply a place to belong – Curry helps each senior find a way to stay healthier and live with dignity while growing older.

A recent study shows the success of Curry’s Senior Vitality program! Older adults in the Tenderloin were given iPads, digital scales, and Fitbits. For one year, they attended in-person and online classes on how to use their iPads. At the end of the first year, 100% of the 90 study participants were using their iPads, and 94% expressed confidence in using them. T.Anne Richards, a research and evaluation consultant with the Curry Senior Center and lead author on the study, reports that the study showed that the Senior Vitality program worked well to reduce loneliness and improve self-care among Senior Vitality participants. It was found that?older adults who completed the program reported increases in social connectivity, reduction of loneliness, increases in healthcare self-management, and strengthening self-efficacy, the belief in one’s ability to impact one’s own health. “I think I’m a lot better because of the program. It got me out of the isolation, and it got me happier, more involved with life when I was just saying, ‘I don’t want to wake up anymore.’”?- A Curry Senior Center Senior Vitality program participant. Co-authors were Doug Oman, UC Berkeley School of Public Health; Angela Di Martino, Curry Senior Center; and Ashwin Kotwal, University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The study was published online in the Journal of Applied Gerontology. The anticipated journal publication date is the May 2025 issue of the Journal of Applied Gerontology. T.Anne Richards is corresponding author. Curry Senior Center and the National Institute on Aging (NIA) provided funding. To access the study, click on this link -?https://lnkd.in/gHCMYBNa.

Thanks to Replate and the Golden State Warriors for supporting Curry Senior Center seniors!
?? At Replate, we’re proud to partner with incredible organizations like the Golden State Warriors and Curry Senior Center to mitigate food waste and support local communities. ?? The Chase Center in #SanFrancisco—home of the Warriors—has an efficient food recovery program that helps divert tons of surplus food from landfills. This effort not only reduces waste but also directly supports local hunger relief programs. ?? Curry Senior Center has been a vital part of SF’s Tenderloin for over 50 years, providing essential services like health literacy classes, nutritious meals, medical care, and social events for low-income and homeless older adults. Through our partnership with the Chase Center, we were able to deliver this fantastic donation to Curry Senior Center recently! ?? Let’s keep building a future where no good food goes to waste. #FoodRecovery #ZeroWaste #CommunityImpact #SanFrancisco (original video: https://lnkd.in/gtJM3vMk)
