CureMetrix has partnered with practicing radiologists, cardiologists, and esteemed institutions around the world to collect over 5 million images to train and validate our algorithms. Recently, my Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco colleagues, Louise Willard, Kevin Ortiz, Chi Elder and I visited the UC San Diego Design Lab for a tour and an introduction to their remarkable work around advanced #technology and #innovation. One of the highlights was walking through the incredible building, dedicated to all things entrepreneurial for the UCSD community. We also had an opportunity to sit down with CureMetrix, a company founded by alumni of UCSD, focused on using technology like #GenAI to improve outcomes in healthcare for women.?The visit also gave me a great opportunity to hear firsthand about current business conditions for start-up companies. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of the profound impact cancer has on nearly every family and the power of screening and prevention. Today, we’re excited to share a breakthrough from our client and friends at Analytics Ventures and their portfolio company, CureMetrix. Researchers assessed the association of Breast Arterial Calcifications (both presence and extent) with cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes. The retrospective study followed more than 18,000 women for up to 11 years. Incredibly, AI can extract additional, impactful insights from routine screening mammograms. The impact that AI already has in healthcare is truly remarkable. It exemplifies why Banc of California is proud to support life sciences and the potential of AI to revolutionize healthcare in the future.
