Did you know that cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable? 99% of cervical cancer cases are linked to infection with high-risk Human papillomaviruses (HPV). The good news is that HPV vaccines can be nearly 100% effective in preventing HPV infection. Additionally, if cervical precancer is caught early through HPV screening, quick and painless thermal ablation treatment can prevent the development of cervical cancer. Take it from us and from the World Health Organization: get informed, get screened, get vaccinated. #CervicalCancer #WomensHealth?#CancerPrevention #HPV

关于我们
CureCervicalCancer (CCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. Since 2013, CureCervicalCancer has screened over 185,000 women and provided life-saving treatment to 12,500+ women. We have trained 750+ healthcare professionals and 1,700+ community health educators, and established over 100 sustainable “See & Treat” clinics. Our network of clinics operate in 10 different countries including Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam. With early detection and treatment, cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable, yet it claims the lives of over 300,000 women every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a woman dies of cervical cancer every two minutes, making it one of the greatest threats to women’s health. A disproportionate 90% of these women live in resource limited countries where lack of wide-scale screening fails to identify cervical cancer until it is invasive and access to treatment for invasive cancer is virtually non existent. Without the intervention of early detection and treatment, women in resource poor regions will continue to die from cervical cancer at an alarming rate. In fact, the WHO predicts that by the year 2040 cervical cancer deaths will increase by 50%. The world’s most vulnerable women are unjustly dying from a disease that we have the knowledge and tools to prevent.

Meet Kelly, one of the 2,240 Community Health Workers (CHWs) we’ve trained for our Mobile Health for Mamas Program–the first and only program in Kenya bringing #cervicalcancer screening and treatment directly to women’s homes and communities. “There are many women who we will see have HPV and cervical cancer. At our community level, women need to have the first priority because they are our wives and mothers who care for our families.” #HPVTesting is the World Health Organization-gold standard screening method for cervical cancer, and we partner with CHWs like Kelly to bring life-saving HPV testing and cervical cancer education directly to women’s doorsteps. It is crucial for all community members, particularly men, to be #advocates for women’s health in the fight to eliminate cervical cancer. It doesn’t just take a village to defeat cervical cancer–it takes a movement. Join ours by donating and supporting today. #CervicalCancer #CommunityHealth #Kenya #RuralMedicine #WomensHealth #HealthEquity

This month marks 3 Years of Mobile Health for Mamas, our comprehensive cervical cancer testing and treatment program–the first program in Kenya bringing cervical cancer prevention directly to women’s homes and communities. What’s so revolutionary about Mobile Health for Mamas? ?? Self-Sample HPV Testing??? We utilize Human papillomavirus testing to screen for cervical cancer, which the WHO has established as the gold-standard. Community Health Workers provide self-sample testing kits so women can collect their own samples in the privacy of their homes, rather than in a health facility with a healthcare provider–overcoming geographic and logistic constraints. ?? Community-Based Treatment??? We bring thermal ablation treatment directly to communities by facilitating a mobile clinic. Women who test positive for HPV can receive timely treatment for free, eliminating geographic and financial barriers. ?? Mobile Health for Mamas App ?? We designed our own patient data collection app and trained Community Health Workers and Healthcare Providers to use it throughout the testing and treatment processes. Replacing our paper records with advanced technology has maximized the accuracy and efficiency of our data collection, and has allowed us to monitor patient care progress in real-time. ?? Mobile Laboratory??? Our custom-built, solar-powered mobile laboratory houses two PCR machines that can analyze over 700 samples in 1 day. The mobility of our lab allows us to reach women in even the most remote regions. Join us in celebrating the achievements of Mobile Health for Mamas!??? #CervicalCancerPrevention #CervicalCancer #CommunityHealth #HealthEquity #MobileClinic #GlobalHealth #HealthTech

? An important article from the New York Times describing cervical cancer prevention through Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. Dr. Denise Galloway of Fred Hutch Cancer Center explains how high-risk types of HPV can cause cervical cancer to develop, and Dr. Pignone emphasizes the use of vaccination and screening for prevention. While CureCervicalCancer focuses its efforts on early detection and treatment of cervical cancer, we also advocate for the importance of vaccination. Take a moment to learn how you can protect yourself and your loved ones from cervical and other forms of cancer.??? #HPV #CervicalCancer #VaccinationAwareness

Quick Facts about our Mobile Health for Mamas Cervical Cancer Testing and Treatment Program: ???? Where are we currently operating? We have most recently been focusing our efforts in Migori County, which is located in the Western/Nyanza region of Kenya and is home to roughly 1.3 million residents. ?? Why Migori County? Migori County has an estimated population of 167,839 women within the eligible cervical cancer screening age range of 25-49 years and 19% of those women are living with HIV (Migori County Health Management Team). The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council has flagged Migori County as one of the HIV most affected counties in Kenya in its latest 2023 report estimates and the WHO reports that women who have HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to the general population. With a cervical cancer screening rate of <15%, there is an urgent need to strengthen the local healthcare system and improve access to screening and treatment (County Department of Health, Migori). ?? How are we preventing cervical cancer in Migori County? Our cervical cancer prevention model focuses on early detection and treatment of cervical cancer, as well as health systems strengthening. We not only provide the essential cervical cancer services, but also train local healthcare workers to strengthen existing community relationships and sustain our model for the long-term. ?? What have we accomplished since July? - Tested over 5,000 women with self-sample HPV testing - Treated over 800 HPV+ women?in community-based mobile clinics - Referred 12 to advanced gynecological care? - Trained 29 Healthcare Providers - Trained 50 Community Health Assistants? - Trained 541 Community Health Promoters Together, we are working to create a healthier future for women in Migori County and around the world! ?? ?? #CervicalCancerAwareness #GlobalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #CommunityHealth

An amazing read from Global Citizen about how one youth leader is leading #HPV and #CervicalCancer prevention efforts in her community. Stecy Blessings Bosse is a teenage advocate for cervical cancer prevention in Kenya. Upon learning that HPV and cervical cancer are preventable through the HPV vaccination, she organized events to destigmatize the diseases and promote preventative measures. At 16 years old, Bosse has organized 10-km races, father-daughter dances, monthly support groups, and school outreaches to raise HPV awareness and gather donations for women with cervical cancer. Bosse’s work highlights the importance of community organizing for cervical cancer prevention. Take her story as #inspiration to lead your own conversations about HPV, cervical cancer, and vaccinations in your community. Your words and your compassion can save lives. #CommunityHealth #YouthLeaders #CervicalCancerAwareness #WomensHealth
