???? What is the point of an Employee Resource Group (ERG)?! The answer: It depends. Usually, it depends on the maturity level of an ERG, what the company's goals (and available resources) are for their ERG, and the capacity of those who are active members of the ERGs. That said, in this short clip, I am giving the leaders of some brand new Employee Resource Groups (ERG) an idea of how much an ERG can actually do when it reaches a point of high maturity. ???? Let's Talk About LEADERSHIP: It's more than just a buzz word... Question: Are you expected to be a leader in your current role, but you've never sat down and planned out exactly, which type of leadership style you would like to deploy in a given situation or within a certain team dynamic? ?? In this short clip, I've just finished introducing to a group of Employee Resource Group (ERG) leads at a financial services client the notion that leadership is not only a learned skill, but also one that encompasses multiple styles. And that at any moment in time, you can strategically choose a style to leverage to reach a specific outcome. Their faces were just full of shock ?? ??: They had never considered all the different leadership styles out there. It's one of the reasons I love giving these types of presentations for clients. The other reason, is I enjoy helping my clients develop their employees to become the leaders they need them to be. ????I Love These Moments (Trust the Process) I love when my Curators (clients) have a breakthrough moment in their journey. It happens quite often in various different ways, but today's milestone was a surprise because of the timing: In the middle of our coaching session on key messaging, my curator received an email inviting him to schedule his first interview with a company...and we were ecstatic! Prior to our first coaching session, he shared his frustration that he could not even get an interview for the numerous roles that he was applying to and he didn't know what to do differently. Since then he has had multiple breakthroughs -including knowing which roles are actually worth applying to- and is now approaching his career strategy differently...and we are starting to see the results! As a coach, I'm so excited for him, because I know he's doing the work. Yes, there is work involved in this. A quick resume update or a simple AI tool just doesn't cut it, because those tactics don't fix the root problem, which is not having a personalized, curated career strategy. We had just enough time left in our session to immediately shift our attention to building a preparation plan for this interview. So I know he will do very well if he does his homework and delivers on what he discussed. Regardless of what happens with this particular role, this was such a great moment to see how surprised and excited he was to receive the email.
