Our November 2024 recap involves receiving and continuing to cure our human. November was entrepreneurship month for small businesses. Every industry has small businesses within the business ecosystem, and this includes our artists locally. Initially we were supposed to be in person to participate in our first national SHRM Inclusion conference. Unfortunately, life happens and we joined virtually. Our takeaways included appreciation for disability inclusion and more holistic Human Resources strategies that confirm the existence of CuraHuman is well timed for the world. Our responsibility in self-leadership has us aware of opportunities to challenge preconceived ideas of what leadership can be. In our volunteer work with our local Great Raleigh Chamber of Commerce we serve on the Programming Task Force of the Young Professional Network. Our goal is to offer executive and leadership coaching as an early intervention for workplace culture. Through that volunteer work Molly Andrews fellow Community Involvement peer, and now leader of the YPN Proframming TaskForce, shared tickets to the Art Bash for our first visit to the ArtspaceNC. Since relocating from the iconic cultural art scene in NYC, it has been years since we engaged with the creative and expressive art world and what better place to become reactivated in our Choiceness. This was a sibling sister sister date (one overdue since the wedding in August 2024) and we had a beautiful time meeting artists and receiving the gift of their artwork as a creative human experience. It’s always great to see our undervalued artists receiving support for their talents and connecting with local small business owners. For us at CuraHuman, it is our commitment to being our whole self through self-leadership that allows us to master the art and science of Human Resources work. Here’s our prediction: Is it possible that the future of the CEO is rebranded forever? The authors of the SHRM article contend that rather than worshiping at the altar of the CEO, organizations need a more collaborative approach as we look to the future. In this collaborative opportunity, might it be the storm that demands new leadership, where a Chief Human Resources Officer has the ability to rise, embodying everything that the world is seeking for new leadership. Our desire is to see CHRO’s thrive in this new c-suite model, as they are the most equipped and prepared for this type of leadership transformation. They have individually and collectively as HR professionals, put in the effort and work for everything outlined here in reference to coaching and whole person self-discovery and self-development. Are we genuinely surprised that relying on one person, the CEO, is disadvantageous? The goal has always been more of a collective leadership for mankind anyway. Meaningful Movement: We set the intention today to embrace being human, to cure our human in our executive leadership. What does this look like this week? One of the critical aspects to being human is having shelter and that can lead to exploration of housing in general. It’s a whole person development to care for our human and that includes housing. We have the opportunity to serve on the Programming Taskforce. Our fellow volunteers Hennessey and Elizabeth along with our leaders Molly and Kevin collaborated to bring an event this coming Thursday. The Young Professionals Network with the Greater Raleigh Chamber is hosting our next program on Feb 27! Meaningful Movement: Our meaningful movement is to shift with change management in alignment for our vision. We have had the pleasure of serving and working with executives and organizational leaders over the past two years established as CuraHuman. Our owner has had the unique opportunity to study abroad international human resource management in the UAE and to have worked with global companies including Teach for All and Global Skyware. Her cultural competence and awareness has been a skill that has allowed her to pair business acumen with Human Resources strategy effectively. Her commitment and dedication lead her to complete the cohort CULTIVATE by Hacking HR, a 5 week immersion program in 2020. Friday Feels: Rare. Earlier this week we shared that we are a finalist for a video contest. This annual video contest aims to highlight how individuals with disabilities bring a unique perspective and diverse talents to the world, universities, and the workplace each and every day. University students and professionals are rebranding disability through achievement and boldly sharing their experience. This month is Rare Disease Month. Our owner happens to have a rare disease. In 2016, upon diagnosis she became one in a million. Most people desire to be one in a million. Most of us celebrate our individuality as humans. Yet being rare or possessing something rare involves more depth. There is complexity in how that shows up for who we are and how we interact in the world. Thank you to Lime Connect for investing in our leader and supporting her professional growth as an executive! Do we view each other as rare people with our every day connections? In alignment with CuraHuman rare means uncommon excellence. It’s curiosity, creativity, and insights that come from rarity. There is immense knowledge and power plus inspiration found in rareness. It takes the combination of the values of belonging, whole-heartedness, love, curiosity, boldness, to care for yourself in the best self-leadership. The October recap for 2024 ends with supporting each other. The North Carolina Rural Health Association had their quarterly meeting post Hurricane Helene. FHLI, Foundation for Health Leadership and Innovation, is the host for these and CuraHuman joined virtually. In that moment we had the opportunity to live into our mental health first aid training. Natural disasters can be disruptive for lives and it was so meaningful to see space held for exploring our response to that event. Our owner is acquainted with this, as we experienced much loss from Hurricane Sandy in New York. *These ones suffered material grief with the storm *These ones potentially lost relationships in being displaced from their homes *These ones may have experienced functional grief in having been hurt or injured from the natural disaster *Many assumed new or varied roles to build back and adjust what was lost *The systems for relief will look different locally Grieving is a process and we must trust the process to heal. Yes, AND. Yes we grieved AND we experienced joy. Later that day, we had a lunch date to finally explore La’Farm Bakery with one of the leaders at FHLI. That day happened to be our last day for our contract work with FHLI. Grief and Loss happens in the business with clients all the time. This is an integrated part of living and exists in our businesses for all in the organization. Today we are actually taking a grief and loss course to remind ourselves that in this system we have perpetual loss. The October recap cannot end without our community engagement at Raleigh Founded. We first met Mel Wright in 2023 at the Black Biz Summit. Her model to vision a black owned ,woman owned coworking space was impressive. It’s intentional to share our experience during black history month. The mission of The Wright Village is to foster culture, inspire and empower, encourage innovation, and accelerate development through the collaboration of entrepreneurs. It influenced our commitment to entrepreneurship seeing others become successful. It showed us where we are in our entrepreneurial journey and let us find potential clients seeking CuraHuman. The Village hosts community events, open to both our members and non-members. It was our pleasure to authentically connect with other entrepreneurs at the Business After Hours. Meaningful Movement: Our meaningful movement is to shift into keeping our integrity. This week we set the intention to stay aligned to who we are. As we ended January we received some excited news. Yet it was mixed emotions to be acknowledged in this way. As an introverted leader, her power does not necessarily sit in the verbal words expressed. The choice to be in the LimeLight Contest in 2025 seemed too important not to boldly use her voice! Her Choiceness Coach title challenges her to live Choiceness as her every day excellence. This contest was a choice to be our very day excellence. Thank you Lime Connect for elevating our leader and empowering her to rebrand disability through achievement! Ellysa S. at CuraHuman will be a Finalist for the contest. She has previously served on the Junior Board at Lime Connect managing the contest in 2021, which influenced her decision to serve on the Board of Disability Rights of NC. Personally and professionally, being different (in various ways) has lead to the creative design of CuraHuman. Our wholeness and integrity lies in caring for our human. There are times in this world that we feel less than human and may even be treated less than human. Please watch and vote for this not just to put CuraHuman in the Limelight yet to elevate how the workplace has to become a space for healing, a place to improve the both the employee experience and the human experience. CuraHuman does not focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives precisely. However, coaching and other services provided are intentional with creating a welcoming atmosphere for each human to reach their full potential. Meaningful Movement Monday: Our meaningful movement Monday is the intention for Balancing Performance with Regeneration We are highlighting the four fundamental shifts to make sure you as a leader, are ready for 2025. It’s one month in and already proving to be a challenging year in so many ways. *Fourth Shift: Balancing Performance with Regeneration* In a former workplace, performance of C-suite roles were formally tied to an unrealistic level of stamina that is unsustainable for a CEO in an organization. The unrealistic demand to have leaders practicing and performing at the same time is detrimental to the human and ultimately the organization. The human condition demands practice and training to perform best, to be optimized. Rather than perpetuating a capacity to work constantly, there may be an opportunity to foster more regenerative cultures. In a 2024 and beyond workplace, regeneration of people has to be a core strategy and must be accessible to all staff, including C-suite professionals. Coaching is the ultimate regenerative tool to sustain a culture of well being. It is the equivalent of practice and training, so that leaders can perform their best consistently. The gift of intentional space to recover is found in coaching. The value of the coach is to provide the opportunity for the coachee to transform their self-leadership. Friday Feels: Longing. 2025 already feels long and there is a longing for maybe an easier time or a safer time in existence. Ten years ago in 2015 our leader was finishing up her undergraduate studies at Fordham University with a major in general science and a minor in philosophy. At the end of 2024 we finished the Motivation Manifesto. As we end January for the first month of 2025 with a longing of what was, we confidently move forward with motivation. You have more power than you realize! Already 2025 has provided more blessings and gratitude than heartache or pain. These are some of our favorite reminders from the book that has lead us into the year fierce. *We must be conscious and responsible for our beliefs and behaviors if we are ever to be free. *More will seek to pull us up than push us down. *Most of the fear we feel in life is simply anxiety arising from our anticipation of two kinds of pain that change might bring: the pain associated with loss or hardship. *No clarity, no change, no goals, no growth.
