Can AI create the perfect brand character? Maybe. But should it? A couple weeks ago I posted about why brand characters matter.? If you missed it, go check it out. Recently, we had an opportunity to create a character for our partners at Symmetry Lending. They specialize in piggyback HELOCs, and no matter how many times they explain it to me, I still feel like I’m back in high school algebra, staring at a test, hoping for a miracle. But here’s what I do know. Brokers love them. They’re absolute pros. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Anything to do with lending has got to be a snoozefest. Wrong. These guys are awesome! They’re smart, creative, and they think outside-the-box (bacon-scented candles as promo items, anyone?)? Plus, they have a wicked sense of humor. So when they asked us to reimagine their Piggyback HELOC character, we knew it had to reflect on them.?Their old mascot was a little too Piggly Wiggly when they needed something more “financial guru with a playful edge.” So we got to work. We went through the brand exercises, mood boards, and design iterations until we landed on this wonderful guy. Meet Mr. Lendingham. He’s a problem-solver, planner, and creative thinker. And let’s be real. He’s adorable! Like so adorable you just wanna bring home to meet your parents. And unlike some of my more ridiculous AI-generated images (think kangaroo boxing an 80-year old man), this guy was crafted the old-fashioned way: zero AI, all imagination.
