Being an ally isn’t just about acknowledging others; it’s about taking intentional actions to uplift and support one another—especially those who face systemic barriers. As leaders, we have the responsibility to demonstrate this through our actions and decisions, and also create an environment where allyship is actively practiced and encouraged. I had the privilege of giving a talk at Ignite Howard County, where I explored how curiosity can be a transformative tool in a world full of assumptions. Seeking knowledge and asking questions isn’t always easy; for many, it’s something we might even avoid out of fear or complacency. Yet, there are overlooked advantages in choosing to engage. In this talk, I share personal insights on how embracing curiosity and asking the right questions can open doors to growth, expand our understanding, and strengthen our connections.

My own journey has taught me that adversity can profoundly change us—for better or for worse.
