We're excited to present a plenary for the 2024 Creative Time Summit next Sunday at Pratt Institute School of Architecture. Our session "Solidarity as Enduring Practices: Learning from Disaster Utopias" is organized in collaboration with Caron Atlas from Arts and Democracy and NOCD-NY and Rachel Falcone, and Michael Premo from Storyline Media. Inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s concept of Disaster Utopia, this session invites participants to share stories from crisis experiences. Engaging in small circles, we will discuss the potential for solidarity and cooperation during disasters to teach us about resilience and inform long-lasting policies and actions. Please reserve your tickets and join us next Sunday at Pratt Institute School of Architecture (Higgins Hall?61 St James Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11238). See you then! https://lnkd.in/eNDBPeca

SAVE THE DATE! — Join us on March 19th at 6 pm EST to imagine innovative ways open data practices can serve the Cultural and Arts sector and take the first step towards creating an Open Data Agenda for New York City Culture and Arts. RSVP: https://lnkd.in/edd9E3XD Organized by the Culture & Arts Policy Institute in connection with New York City’s Open Data Week, we will explore how open data can bolster systemic change within NYC’s arts and culture sectors. After a short presentation on the principles of Open Data and Open Government, a panel of culture workers, data analysts, and artists will discuss the potential of open data to strengthen New York’s cultural ecosystem and the challenges and opportunities they present for artists, cultural workers, and culture organizations. The event marks the beginning of a broader research and collaborative process to create an Open Data Agenda for NYC Culture and Arts tailored to the needs of cultural workers, arts organizations, and the communities they serve and work with, encouraging dialogue and collaboration within and across sectors. Co-presented with BRIC, this program is part of NYC Open Data Week, an annual festival of community-driven events that brings New Yorkers together to share and learn about publicly available data. #opendataweek2024 #opendataweek #culturelpolicy #nyc
