The Netherlands has reinforced its leadership in sustainable food production by launching two state-of-the-art cellular agriculture scale-up facilities: the Biotechnology Fermentation Factory (BFF) in Ede and Cultivate at Scale (CaS) in Maastricht. These open-access facilities aim to transition companies from research to scalable production, advancing precision fermentation and cell culture bioprocessing. Maresa Oosterman, Chair of the Cellulaire Agricultuur Nederland Foundation, stated, "These facilities are crucial for advancing cellular agriculture not only in the Netherlands but globally." Nikolaas Vles, CEO of NIZO emphasized, "Our combined upstream and downstream capabilities offer unique opportunities to accelerate the protein transition." Jaco van der Merwe, Managing Director of Cultivate at Scale added, "This independent facility bridges the gap between research and scalable production." De Biotechnology Fermentation Factory (BFF) in Ede is gericht op precisiefermentatie en wordt ondersteund door NIZO. Cultivate at Scale (CaS) in Maastricht, is gericht op celkweek-bioprocessen en een onafhankelijke spin-out van Mosa Meat. De twee faciliteiten zijn ontwikkeld in samenwerking met NIZO Food Research, Mosa Meat, het Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur en het Nationaal Groeifonds en vormen een belangrijke mijlpaal in de ontwikkeling van duurzame voedselproductie. It will also give access to critical services such as bulk purchasing of low-cost cell feed ingredients, quality control, and regulatory consulting.?
