Celebrating my 8-year anniversary of being an entrepreneur today! Eight years ago, I started a resume and copywriting business called The Writer’s Block and it was a bigger success than I ever imagined it would be. Originally, I only wanted an extra $500/mo to pay my rent. Although it was successful, I was burnt out and was began to teach myself graphic design, so I pivoted. I rebranded The Writer’s Block to Cult Creative Agency and we’ve been rocking ever since. I’ve worked with every dream client I’ve ever wanted to work with. It’s been amazing. From a copywriting business, The Writer’s Block, to a branding and marketing agency, Cult Creative Agency, now adding and expanding into my farm, Cult Farms, it’s been a long time coming and I’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into CULT. When I started my business, I had no blueprint and most of my peers were already excelling in their corporate careers. It was hard not to feel like a failure and lost during that time, but I really believed that I could do this. I am a living testament of following your dreams and believing almost to the point of delusion in yourself. I know that no matter what I touch, it will flourish because I’ve done it before and I can do it again. Happy 8 years to Cult Creative Agency!

Black women are changing the landscape of entrepreneurship, but this is old news. From Madam C.J Walker To Oprah Winfrey To Pinky Cole (Slutty Vegan) To Dominique Webb (Cult Creative Agency) To Topicals To Lauren Ash (Black Girl In Om) & so so many more... The smartest thing to do is to bet big on Black women entrepreneurs! We're no longer waiting for seats at the table, we're building better worlds for ourselves and community at large.

"Black women are the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs in the U.S." ?? this stat is glorified but often skips a hard truth. Often in the corporate world, black women are not promoted at the same rate, valued, or paid the same in comparison to their counterparts. So as a means of livelihood, and to bypass these gatekeepers, they make their own way.
