Wymer Hall, a?100,000 sf higher education facility that embodies a forward-thinking design & approach to education,?at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! This state-of-the-art building, with its advanced studios and innovative classrooms,?is targeting a LEED Platinum & LEED Zero Energy certification, showcasing its commitment to sustainability. The building will feature several green initiatives, including a geothermal heating and cooling system, green roofs, bird-friendly glazing, and a high-performance envelope design to improve energy efficiency. Additionally, it is designed with daylight atriums, permeable surfaces, bike commuting facilities, and enhanced indoor air quality to support a sustainable and healthy environment. Opening in January 2025, Wymer Hall is on its way to becoming a transformative space for future business leaders. Participating in “Getting to Zero | The Illinois Summit”?was a highlight last week! Shaylyn Cullen along with members of the project team from the 7 W. Van Buren project in Oak Park, IL discussed the construction, commissioning and verification work that has been in place since the project’s conception on the path to pursing Phius ZERO certification. The 44-unit multifamily project will include enough solar production on the rooftop and fa?ade to generate more energy than is consumed.?Cullen Construction Management is the Owners Representative for the Oak Park Residence Corporation working towards creating the most significant net-zero multifamily housing development in the upper Midwest!
