Community support is essential to cancer recovery. In fact, having a strong support system can reduce the risk of mortality for cancer patients by up to 25% (JMIR Cancer). That’s an incredible reminder of just how important it is for people with cancer to feel connected and supported. Having people in your corner can make all the difference in the world. 1.2 million people will undergo chemotherapy this year. Because chemotherapy is an outpatient treatment, these 1.2 million people will NOT receive meals from the hospital. BUT, there's hope... Culinary Care is the ONLY program filling this void. This year, we're on a pace to change the course of cancer treatment for 900 families -- ensuring a warm meal is waiting for them while they receive their life-saving care. Far too many cancer patients struggle with food and isolation — 1 in 5 cancer deaths are a direct result of malnutrition, and 1 in 3 patients report feeling lonely. In just one month, over 750 people will come together to help change these statistics.
