Over half of Americans battle diet-related health issues, making the Food as Medicine movement more important than ever. On Wednesday, Vanessa Rissetto, MS, RD, CDN was on stage at HLTH 2024, discussing how nutrition is reshaping the future of healthcare. With initiatives like medically-tailored meals, produce prescriptions, and government-backed programs, food is taking center stage as a critical asset in healthcare. Culina Health is leading the way by scaling dietitian-led Food as Medicine interventions, which save $13.6B in health care costs in the 1st year (Tufts study), and drastically reduces overall total cost of care. The panel was moderated by Michelle Kuppich from California Food is Medicine Coalition (CalFIMC) and Brett Matthews from Kate Farms, Irene Liu from Chiyo, and Meghan David from FarmboxRx rounded out the panel.
