Thank you to everyone who attended our launch event in the Irish Film Institute this morning. We were so proud to have Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan alongside the Cuan team to introduce the #HardestStories campaign. A special thank you to our guest speakers Nicola Hanney and Ciara Mangan, who felt empowered by sharing their own stories, and would encourage others to do the same. With this campaign, we are asking everyone to play a role in stopping domestic, sexual and gender-based violence being a part of anyone’s story. Today marks the launch of our Hardest Stories Campaign. From Oscar Wilde to Edna O’Brien, we pride ourselves on being a nation of storytellers. But there are some stories no one should have to tell. Stories of harassment, abuse, rape; stories of violence. ? These stories are hidden in plain sight across our country, more being created every day and we’re shedding light on them now. Showcasing the humanity behind the statistics and encouraging people to join in stopping these stories. ? With this campaign, we aim to shed light on not only particular stories of violence but also the fact that all too many of these stories exist. Let’s stop domestic, sexual and gender-based violence being a part of anyone’s story. For more information, see www.gov.ie/stories https://lnkd.in/gWDUqQCJ

Welcome to the official LinkedIn page for Cuan, Ireland’s statutory agency dedicated to tackling and reducing domestic, sexual and gender-based violence (DSGBV). On February 23 2024, Cuan was officially launched by our CEO Dr Stephanie O’Keeffe and the former Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee T.D. A year on and so much has been achieved; we saw the establishment of the Cuan Board, the expansion of our team within Cuan, the delivery of our Cuan Hub and the continued development of domestic violence refuge accommodation. We look forward to continuing working closely with our Board, the Department of Justice, other government departments, agencies and frontline service providers towards our vision of a society free from domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.
