We're thrilled to join Also Capital, The 81 Collection, and Side Door Ventures in supporting Grounded's $3.5M pre-seed funding round, which will accelerate the production and distribution of their in-demand electric RVs. Led by Sam Shapiro, Grounded was one of the first members at Newlab at Michigan Central, and the team has been hard at work developing standout electric RVs - expanding out of the Newlab prototyping shops to their own factory in the Michigan Central Innovation District. These versatile vans are not only gaining traction for personal adventures but are also in high demand from small businesses needing custom designs for mobile services like medicine, pet grooming, food transport, and more. Most recently, Grounded collaborated with Climate Tech Cocktails and Newlab to create a bespoke RV for Matthew Myers’ “Here We Are” tour across the country. To date, Grounded has already logged double-digit sales of their RVs, generating around $3 million in revenue. Congratulations to the entire Grounded team on this incredible milestone! A vibrant yellow electric RV is touring cities to promote climate tech and foster innovation. Climate Tech Cocktails founder Matthew Myers, along with InnovatePGH and other partners, organized the stop in Pittsburgh to help build a local climate tech ecosystem. At the event, panelists noted that Pittsburgh’s industrial history and recent advances in technology provide a strong foundation for this effort. However, they also stressed the need for a collective effort to develop the city's climate tech infrastructure by leveraging local universities and talent. Many students, like Carnegie Mellon University MBA Paul L. Grech, are eager to fill that gap in Pittsburgh's climate tech ecosystem.
