Managing a multi-site network refresh is complex—but with the right strategy, it doesn’t have to be disruptive. At CTC Technologies, we’ve spent 20 years helping major manufacturers across North America optimize and future-proof their network infrastructure. With most organizations operating on a five-year refresh cycle, keeping networks modern, secure, and efficient requires careful planning, standardization, and execution. https://lnkd.in/gKD-vXan

October 29th is #InternationalInternetDay because it's the day the first electronic message was sent over ARPANET, the precursor to the modern internet. On October 29, 1969, UCLA student programmer Charley Kline sent the first message over ARPANET, the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. The message, "LO", was sent from UCLA to Stanford Research Institute. International Internet Day was declared on this day in 2005 to commemorate this historic moment, and to celebrate the internet's role in making it easier to access and share information.

Welcome aboard, Andrew and Julian! Andrew is our first hire into a newly created role, Operations and Inside Sales Manager. He will be doing some procurement, creating quotes, managing the install schedule, and generally helping us to make processes more efficient. Andrew lives in Chicago, so he will be working remotely, but will make trips to Ann Arbor on a regular basis. In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time with his wife and two children. Julian is our newest cabling technician at CTC Technologies. He just moved here from Texas, and is living in Ypsilanti. He has been working in low-voltage cabling for four years. Julian likes the work because it allows him to learn networking and other IT skills. In his off hours, he spends time watching football and catching up with family.

October is #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth. Manufacturing facilities continue to be targeted much more than other industries. Secure your devices, equipment and machinery, supply chain, and #protectyourdata. "Topped with the highest share of cybercrimes worldwide (Statista, 2023), the manufacturing sector is transforming with Industry 4.0. However, this evolution comes with increased cyber risks. Integrating Internet of Things (IoT) devices and increased automation exposes manufacturers to new vulnerabilities. Cyberattacks can disrupt production lines, steal intellectual property, and compromise the integrity of the supply chain. Manufacturers must balance innovation with robust cybersecurity measures to secure operations against the evolving threat landscape." - EC Council University https://lnkd.in/gY6iAg6V

While we don't normally cover #globalcablingnews, this story seemed like an accurate portrayal of our #cabling team's day-to-day work.... if they were working in Buckingham Palace! The statement on the official Buckingham Palace website says the reason for the new #cabling is that "the Palace's electrical cabling, plumbing and heating have not been updated since the 1950s. The building's #infrastructure is in urgent need of a complete overhaul to prevent long-term damage to the building and its contents." While some of the effort started in 2017 and will continue through 2027 as part of this Reservicing Program, "work is currently underway to remove a further 1.5km of VIR cabling from State Rooms including the Picture Gallery, Blue Drawing Room, Music Room, White Drawing Room, and Throne Room." And as you see in the pictures, the palace's basement is just as scary and claustrophobic as anyone else's. #cablingisglamorous #dirtyITwork #pullingwire #tightspaces A link to the short video on the cabling is here: https://lnkd.in/gTmWQngw

Stop by our #a2techtrek booth (#46) this Friday, from 1-5 p.m. We'll be close to the Liberty & Division intersection, right across from Liberty Plaza. We've ordered nice weather, so you have no excuse not to attend 🌞 More than 60 Ann Arbor tech companies are participating, so there will be giveaways, innovative tech demos, opportunities to network, at least one carnival game, a DJ, and probably a few places who are hiring. And oh yes, there will be food! Hope to see you there!
