What an incredible event in Copenhagen yesterday, organized by the CTBUH Nordic Chapter, hosted at BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group new headquarters, and co-sponsored by Dinesen. We were the very first external event to be held at BIG and it is impossible to overstate the fantastic-ness of that building, and the space we were in. Perched at the end of a long very-active pier in the port area of Copenhagen, the building is everything you would expect of BIG - a succession of fantastic spaces as you progress on a winding vertical route up to the sixth floor event space, passing models of fantastic projects from around the world.
The whole-afternoon event was maxed out at 150 colleagues who had joined us from throughout the Nordic region, to focus on "Nordic Design Excellence". I was honored to give the opening keynote and to chair/moderate the event, including the very lively panel session at the end. Everyone then stayed for networking drinks, and Bjarke Ingels himself joined us, which was great, as I got to talk to him about a potential involvement in our new Masters of Tall Buildings and Vertical Urbanism program, as well as, of course, a prominent speaking role in our Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2024 London & Paris Conference!
To cap off a brilliant day, I then jumped in a car with Nicolai Hommelhoff from domis and Riccardo Pedroni from Ramboll, to drive three hours to Aarhus, where I will spend the next two days in an intense round of further meetings!
Many thanks to all the illustrious speakers and panelists at the Copenhagen event, as below:
